Bylsma is an overrated coach, Eichel got hurt a day before the season, our defense is okay and our goaltending is very much up in the air. What's been of this season so far is par for the course. Considering the aforementioned circumstances, none of what's happening surprises me. We're lucky Moulson got his poop together.

side note: Ennis is the Sabres Aaron Williams.

I blame Murray on this one. Kulivov was a bad decision. I hope Asplund is worth the trade. I rather have Pysyk. Someone who plays smart as apposed to taking stupid penalties at the worst time.

Murray has brought in some bad D-Men.

Bogo
Gorges
Kulivov
Franson

Rather have Pysyk and McNabb about now.

Yea, I don't mind Kulikov, and think Franson gets a bad rap (he at least can score for a #5-6 guy) but there is no defending how this blue line has been constructed. It's high priced and sub-par.

Ristolainen and McCabe are the only guys with potential to be more than a #4 on a really good team

64 games as a Sabre with 4 goals, and earlier you complained that there's no scoring from the blue line.

Edit: 5.5 seasons worth of games (464) and he only has 39 goals. That's about 7 per 82 game season. Know who else scored that many last year? Your pal Bagosian.

My point is Murray didn't really help the D. He inherited a pretty good crop of D-Men that includes Risto and McCabe. He since traded away some solid D some good players. The McNabb trade is still suspect. Right now I give it to LA. Zads was a good trade for O'Reilly, but he hasn't brought in or drafted much in the way of quality D-Men. IMO that is the weak point of the team and is coming back to bite them big, such as last nights game.

I won't argue against what he sent away - I have my opinions on it, but concentrating on the other par tof your post - drafted d-men.

Murray has "only" been the GM for what, 4 drafts? It typically takes at least that long I'd think before a d-man even becomes NHL-viable, so it may be too early to grade that just yet.

Saw that during an intermission and immediately thought of the old Kraut here.

Franson is a career .40 PPG player
Bogo is a .32 PPG player

Not a huge difference, but Franson is at least used as a #5 or #6.

They keep trying to make Bogo a top 2 or 3. Will never work

Hjalmarsson averages .22 PPG. I'd take him on this team as a #2 or 3 in a minute.

I've been beating that drum since before the season even started, so you won't hear any complaints about it from me.

As far as Bogosian goes, to be quite honest, I haven't noticed him really at all this season, which IMO is a good thing. Noticed him for all the wrong reasons last year far too often.

I don't think our D is that bad

gorges is playing more than I like
mccabe playing less

bigger problem IMO is the guys up front are not coming back quick enough and making way too many turnovers

Our biggest problem is that our overall passing as a team, whether it's forwards or defense, is HORRIBLE. If they actually learn how to make a tape to tape pass the turnovers will be far less than they are now.

Absolutely, but he's close to elite in other areas. No one on our team besides Risto is.
