yeah I was kidding about stamkos, I may be bitter that he chose not to come home to TO, but I wouldn't be boo'ing him because of it.

Also, by not paying Stamkos, the Leafs can invest that money into some defense because it's not the offense that's the issue.

It would be smart to do so. I mean they could wait around for Nielson or Dermott to become a top pairing but they need to bring in an established young d man and there are options.

The leafs have a ton of forward prospects. Move some to fix a need that we need to fill in order to become a contender eventually.

Have to say 6 games in we really aren't doing too bad. I was not expecting much this season much the same as last year, but we're showing some real promise overall.

Up front we have some guys who just are there, and that is unacceptable. The kids are definitely carrying things and I think a few more changes are going to have to come before the dead weight being carried is taken care of. On the back end it is just an absolute mess. It's not all on the goalie here. Hunwick, Polak, Marincin, even Gardiner... c'mon take a guy, tie up a stick. Fundamental little things. Help the goalie out some, especially when he is struggling.

Goaltending has been bad but he IS coming off a lost pre-season, new team, new system etc. He has been far too aggressive, and I think honestly trying too damn hard instead of just playing. Its a confidence and comfort issue so helping him out is going to be key. He has to be better but at the same time right now with how the team is playing in front of a goalie we could clone Johnny Bower and it wouldn't be enough to win so it is not all on him.

I think before xmas the leafs will call up Neilsen +/- Valiev +/- Loov. I'd have less of a problem with young inexperienced defencemen struggling and LEARNING than with giving Hunwick, and Polak the minutes they're getting.

Oh well! it is just 6 games in... the offence is still fun to watch. And for a nice change they are REALLY outshooting their opponents. If they can limit the juicy giveaways and lapses, games will look much different on the score board.

That's what I was thinking last night. Not - wow, imagine how many goals they'd score with Stamkos, but Stamkos would make it much easier to trade JVR+ for a legit D.

Maybe if Andersen gets his head out of his ass he will find a way to get the save percentage above 90%. He should watch the replay of the face save by Bishop and realize the the "run away" strategy when the puck is on route doesn't work so well.
