I remember how jealous I was of Edmonton last year knowing they have a franchise player of that caliber for the next 20 years...Well now we have one on our own hands. And im sure opposing fans are jealous as well - Santo_44
Except they know that Toronto fans can't have nice things, so they are pretty chill with it.

I've wondered that since the first game.
There was a point in last night's telecast, when they focused on Kadri and noted how he's been put into a 'checking role' this year with Matthews and Bozak as the offensive centres, and I thought "is this what you meant about pain, Babcock?" |

I think they want Kadri as the 3C long term. They want him to be a 50 point center who can shutdown other lines.
I mean hes better than Bozak in every category except maybe faceoffs |

That'll be (frank)ing awesome - an NHL debut of Crosbian proportions. I'll still be very pleasantly surprised by a full season at a ppg pace. - 1979AD
Agree: If you want to take it further as a team, back in 2007-2008, Chicago arguably the best team since then introduced two rookies (Kane and Toews) - they won their first of 3 cups in 09-10 - so the wait might not be that long for Leaf Nation. Only problem for me is Leafs won't be able to beat the Habs like they did in 67.

Marner needs someone to pass to. With high skill. Not sure who they will get for him. |

They brought in guys like hossa and Campbell to help speed things along.
Also were able to overcome bringing in khabibulin |

Leafs have good young nucleus of talent now - probably better than Talbot had in
07-08, not a stretch to think that . they will be able to fill a few gaps with all their scouting and financial resources.

A fantasy that would likely never happen would be to sign Jumbo Joe to a 2 year contract this free agency. The Leafs would have the cap space and would not need to sign Matthews, Marner, ect until Joe's contract would be up.
He replaces Bozak on the second line and would really help this young team the next two years playing with the kids.
He will likely sign somewhere else where he knows he can win next year. Or even resign in SJ for cheap. |

..the leafs are bringing exactly what any knowledgeable hockey fan would expect from such a skilled but youthful core.
Inconsistency, excitement, and of course, a lot of losses.
We will add another amazing top five piece to the stable of young talent at next years draft as well as signing or trading for a top four dman with the boatloads of available cap space and continue to improve.
This build is the best thing the leafs have done in decades. |

The Leafs have a lot of talent. The wins will come. Not enough to make the playoffs but look at the 9-12 range of picks thats where we are most likely picking. |

Not likely but if they pick that high it might be Liljegren. Marner can pass to JVR until he's traded for defense. |

Liljegren absolutely makes sense if they pick high. A big, skilled D-man who is also a righty? Why, that's pretty much our most glaring need right now (apart from a (frank)ing save every now and then!)! |
