I think this sums it up perfectly. One of those games where you'll happily take the results and are pleased with the resolve, but the process before that point, was not very good. Before the 3rd period, the Flyers generated little offensive pressure, and we're outplayed again, for most of the game.

Something is off.

They have little after the top 2 lines. Bellemare is a nice role player but with Cousins out of the middle he isn't bringing much. But I think they are trying to use Bellemare as a checking center to take defensive pressure off Couturier.

Maybe once Wiese and Raffl are back things will work out.

How good has Manning been? Thank god because MacDonald was terrible. And Streit and Schultz not a ton better.

Honestly, when completely healthy I go with this lineup...

Schenn-G-Simmer
TK-Couts-Voracek
Laughton-Cousins-Read
Raffl-Bellemare-Weise/Luby

Ghost-Gudas
MDZ-Provy
Streit/Schultz-Manning

Streit is very frustrating to watch. He was doing things well in the "comeback" effort, but the level of play is replaceable. It like you get excited a guy gets the puck on his stick open in the slot, then you realize it's Streit. Kind of like food from Sheetz, it all sounds so good until you actually try it

I don't think he was terrible at all. I think he was terrible on one play, when he lost coverage on the first Moulson PP goal. We all have to have our scapegoats. I'm not going to say he was good either, he was the same as most of the team was, through out most of the game.

Imagine if Gudas made that hit
- Giroux_Is_God

It was a high hit. I like that he tried to be physical, but he needs to be smarter about it. He didn't need to try and run through him, just take him off the play.

He started the Flyers comeback, and the Sabres could never recover.

I don't think there was intent, at least I hope there was not.

He should be suspended. My guess is 1-2 games.

Also I sat Schenn for Draisitl in my Fantasy league.

Weekly? I dont think its a terrible idea other than the Flyers playing more games.

It is the type of hit Weise just got 3 games for, but we will see. Jake didn't get his nose broken, I guess. It was certainly charging

I think he was bad.

I think Gostisbehere and Simmonds are trying to do too much instead of letting the game come to them.

It's still early. Things will change.

Well that was a hell of a third period...glad I didn't turn the TV off. As slow as their starts have been these Flyers have a lot of fight in them.

I'm not his biggest fan, and I know we talk about sitting him or moving on from him but I have to give VandeVelde credit for last night. Regardless of how the team played up until they scored, it was his hard work that drew the penalty to start the Flyer's scoring and Hakstol even recognized it by giving his line the first shift after we scored our first goal.

Nice work VDV.

Weekly yes.

Kulikov does have a "history" and agreed it was a penalty.

Dont go in the Garth thread. There are sheep defending the hit, much like any fanbase has those people that blindly do so and think the league is out to "get them"

Mason emerging as the de facto # 1.

Luckily they were playing the Sabres. Not going to win many games playing 15 minutes out of 60.

Vandevelde receives a lot of criticism, and the coach is accused of favoritism by playing Vandevelde. To me it's pretty simple. The player, although certainly limited, brings the same consistent and reliable play, every game. He's always in the right position, plays within the system, and rarely makes a mistake to hurt the team. Coaches value that in a player. I'm not saying that he can't be improved upon, and that spot upgraded, but that's why he's in the lineup. For now.

So, automatic minimum 3 game suspension for Kulikov, right?

go read Garth the idiots blog..that hack is trying to defend the hit...he is the worst writer on this site....that being said what a come back...imagine what they could do if they played 60 minutes....they were lucky to come out with the win tonight the way they played thru the 1st and 2nd period..but resilience paid off they got the win
- flyer186

Garth said something absurd, defended a dirty hit by Buffalo, and gave no credit to Philadelphia?

You, sir, must be joking.

So.

Weise, Raffl, Laughton, Gordon, Bellemare, Luby, and VDV. You need to make a bottom 6 group. Go.

For me:

Read - Cousins - Raffl
Laughton/Gordon - Bellemare - Weise.

I think Cousins needs to be in the center to be effective.
