I never said that, other people did. But the fact is that the Rangers are trending down, as is Detroit, while the Flyers are trending up.

I'm fine with either argument. Based off of last year entirely or based off 7 games this season entirely.

Either way I'm comfortable in my assertion that they will have a tough time making the playoffs.

I didn't say they weren't talented enough.

8th worst penalty kill.

4th in total goals against.

9th worst face off team.

Want to use these facts too?

- MikesPillBottle

I am surprised the PK is only 8th worst. That has been bad for 2 whole years now. Despite all of those negatives they are still currently in a playoff spot. The faceoffs and goals against will improve. They have been a lot better at both over the last few years. Factor in the 5% talent upgrade quotient that was provided to me by esteemed hockey stats guy Dr. Corsi Fenwick and this team is a lock for the playoffs.

They're inconsistent as hell, that's for sure. It's like they need a kickstart to get going. The best sign for me so far is that Jake (a.k.a. Jason Vorachec) is looking like his old self.

I posted on facebook after Saturday night's snipe... Jake's Back! funny that that line got a ton of likes from my friends.

You know what? (frank) it, he wins. The Flyers are awful. They won't make the playoffs. Trade everyone, fire Hakstol!

I just don't care about this any more. Moving on.

- jmatchett383

It's not a win or lose debate. There is no winning or losing when we're talking about predicting the future.

The Flyers are a talented team that can't figure out how to get started in games. Been this way for years.

The slow starts are troublesome, but what is truly irksome is that some just act like last night's game took place in a vacuum and they grossly overstate what happened during it.

The Sabres hadn't played in four days and were sitting in Philadelphia while the Flyers were playing -- not perfectly, but capable of getting a road point -- in Montreal.

I've seen people say they were terrible for 57 minutes last night. Which they weren't. They were perfectly fine in the first period, where they outshot and outchanced the Sabres. They had a horrific second period, Neuvirth gave up a soft one and got pulled -- and rightfully so.

They cut it to 3-1 with, what, 16 minuts to go in the third? And play was relatively even, with them on the second night of a back to back, until they got those final two goals to tie it.

It's one thing if they were this godawful team that is getting strafed from start to finish. They had a poopty period last night after basically playing Montreal even the night before, and the usual suspects can't wait to exaggerate how horrible life is

Dr. Corsi Fenwick only uses the eye test. I trust Dr. Eye Test, who uses shot attempt differentials to evaluate players.

You're just seeing two different sides of the same coin. Die hard Flyer fans who take different approaches to how they view sports.

The childish optimism of others or the bitter pessimism of the rest of us.

When we lose or play like poop I like to talk about that. Optimistic people want to ignore it. When they play great or win I have little to say because it's what I expected of them.

I agree for the most part. They were the better team early, had a bit of a lull towards the end of the first which bled into the second. In the 3rd, and 5v5 play was pretty even. The PPs were the reason they tied it up. I'll take the 2 points, but it was far from the game I wanted, even on the back end of a back-to-back.

It's tough so far. It's hard to get a grip on what they are right now. I thought the 5 games in 7 nights would be a telling stretch early in the season but two games in and I'm more confused than before it started. They seem unfocused and slightly disorganized. There's surely more talent here than they've shown for extended periods.

I just going to relax and wait until they're pounding through November to see what we really have this season. By then things should be settling down and we'll have a better handle on things.

It all comes down to the hit on Voracek. Had that not happened the sabers skate out with 2 points.

Flyers got 2 late power plays from bone headed plays the sabers made and they made it count.

It would just be more consistent to focus on the process OR the results. Not the process of a win and the process and result of a loss,

You can react or discuss whichever part you want, but everyone will respond accordingly

They just don't feel involved in the games for the most part. Then each game they get involved for a little bit and dominate the poop out of the other team.

If they could be that team for 50 minutes a night we would be a cup contender, forget bubble team.

Make no mistake I have been annoyed by this team since 2013. Same issues have occurred game in game out. Slow starts, not realizing the game started until you are down by 2-3 goals and an awful penalty kill.

I just accept it as law right now. Hopefully, someday they will become a consistent killing machine. Until then I refuse to address it after every game. #sanity

the easiest thing in the world to do is turn on them when they're down. it doesn't require any loyalty or intestinal fortitude to wait for them to give up a goal and then say "I told you so"

they are going to lose 25 games in regulation this year, somewhere around there. if we can't accept that baseline, i don't know what to tell folks
