I think the problem seems to be a lack of sustained pressure. They can't seem to generate multiple scoring chances right now... it's one shot, then the puck is out of the zone and they are chasing the game towards their own zone most of the time. It could possibly be because they've basically got 4 new lines this year... these guys all are just learning how to play with each other. The first game they looked great, and now they've slipped a little bit. But with so many guys out of the lineup, and so many new line combinations, it's going to take some time before things start clicking.
At least Carlo is doing enough to make Chara look decent... |

Zone entry is also a huge problem. There's no speed entering the zone and it's usually one guy trying to be four on the other team. I miss the days where we were could dump the puck in win the battles on the boards and wear down the other team by hemming the puck in their zone.
The problem is that you don't have time. These things should be established in the preseason. You continuously drop games and you find yourself in a position where you are too far back to qualify for playoffs.

Yeah, and that might be a matter of finding the right combinations of skill guys and grinders on the right lines. I can't remember who said it from the other thread, but Beleskey isn't much help when he's out there with a bunch of other grinders. He needs to be the guy running around turning the puck over, and then he needs some guys with skill that can finish when he does.
Once Vatrano gets back in the lineup I wouldn't mind seeing these lines:
Marchand - Bergeron - Backes
Beleskey - Krejci - Pastrnak
Vatrano - Spooner - Heinen
Schaller - Moore - Acciari
Nash...
and Hayes somewhere down here. |

Don't you feel like the actual problem for the Bruins is the defensemen and their ability to move the play forward so that you can actually control the puck and score some goals?
Plenty of players able to score in that forward lineup.

How about trying beleskey with marchand and bergy? It's something that Claude hasn't experimented with yet, and it may be good to have a guy like beleskey crash and bang and work in the corners, and get some dirty goals off the chances that 63 and 37 create. Worth a shot. When Frankie gets back, personally I'd like to see:
Marchand - Bergeron - Beleksey
Spooner - krejci - backes
Vatrano - czarnik - pastrnak
Heinen - Moore - acciari
Nash
And Hayes waaaaayyyy down here |

So much drama... nobody ever said you're not real fans...
My issue is they have barely even had their full lineup out there, they're six games into the season, and you're already making it sound like we're destined for 28th place. Bergeron/McQuaid were out for the first few... Backes/Rask/Khudobin/Miller/Vatrano are all out now... Krejci and Krug both coming off surgeries, and weren't even supposed to be back in time for the start of the season. Heinen/Carlo/O'Gara are seeing their first NHL action.
That's all I'm saying is give it some time... you come in here with your sky is falling type comments, that there's nothing good about the team, and that everything sucks. The horse isn't even dead yet, but you've already buried it, and yet somehow you're still trying to kick it. Would it really kill you to accept some losses and let the team grow? They were never going to go 82-0 you know. Just relax.

1. Never said those. There are positives just not many at the moment.
2. Really?
I see it one way and you're Mr. Rogers. I hope it's a beautiful day in your neighborhood.

Gotta agree with mixturebill on it. It is annoying to see people lose their sh!t after a loss.
It was brutal, yes.
With two AHL goalies
No Backes
No K. MIller
No Vatrano
Look what happened to Montreal last year without Price.
The D is growing up during these games. Everyone complained about playing vets instead of kids. Now the kids are out there making mistakes, and no one likes the results.
McQuaid and Chara were ok in the game. Liles has seemed fairly workable. Carlo has played his heart out.
Other than the first line (for only half the games) there has been no consistency in the lines. This team looks better when it is healthy. I disagree with Belesky on the first line however, I think it is a "Hero Line" with Pasta there.
Marchand Bergeron Pasta
Belesky Krejci Backes
Vatrano Spooner Heinen
Acciari Moore Schaller
If Heinen doesn't cut it, Put in Czarnik or Nash (Cause he isn't going away).
Seriously get rid of Hayes. For Christmas. My early present. Please. |

Problem is, it's not like it is one loss and everyone loses their minds. For some of us, this is 2+ seasons of wtf moves and uninspired play. Call it what you want, but it's all too familiar to see this play. Sure they are missing guys. When they come back so they make this team a contender? I would say no. |
