Can goalies change the materials their gear is made of so the rebounds bounce of less or more? - MaximusAurelius
I think that the real question here is "Can goalies coat their equipment in a strong adhesive so that they don't serve up rebounds on a (frank)ing platter...?"

Edmonton may have just figured it out after six or seven years of being a young, unorganized team. - 1979AD
They've won a couple October cups in their time though |

2 years into the rebuild and were female doging about what we don't have. The Fact MNM have been awesome offensively (hardest players to find) and some support pieces like Hyman and Brown are already contributing is amazing. We cannot in the Salary Cap world replace 20 some players with better players in a year or two. If Andersen is to be proclaimed the worse goalie in the last 10 years before he gets 20-30 games then Bernier was the best one (based on his first 20 games) How stupid does that sound.... we are still 2-3 years away from being good.... unless we luck out. |

You can count the Burke era in this if you want, but it's just not true. The rebuild started when Shanahan was hired. |

This, all of this. At the same time, it's not easy to watch your team out possess and out shoot teams that should be better than them, but continue to lose in spectacular fashion. |

Yes it is. Just ask the 2008 Leafs. The 2009 Leafs. The 2010 Leafs. Basically most of the Leafs before Carlyle. |

and TB got a lot of bounces...1st goal was not the greatest play by the Leafs but Hunwick scores on own net...Kucherov receives a gift from the heavens on the deflection off the skate right to him....and then the puck is post and in on a couple.
and they're the best team in the league...or pretty (frank)ing close.
can't wait for the next game...who's in net for us on Thurs? - Garnie
Let's (frank)ing hope they are because someone has to stop the Habs or this leafs disaster will look like Fantasy Island for Toronto fans compared to the Habs winning a cup. |

Babcock as an echo of a young, unorganized team still figuring it out in a pressure cooker - Nastradamus
I thought that would be one of Babcock's biggest challenges leaving the Red Wings and joining the Leafs. The Detroit media was pretty soft on him and never challenged him. He came to Detroit with both Zetterberg and Datsyuk in their primes and Lidstrom still being one of the best defenseman in the game. He comes to the Leafs and he has to start over from scratch. I think eventually he will get this team where he wants it as the young players improve. But the Toronto media is a much different animal than what he is used to. In Detroit with reporters like Helene St. James and Ansar Khan, they were basically Ken Holland's puppets. They'd ask softball questions and just kiss Mike Babcock's ass and treat him like the modern day Vince Lombardi. In Toronto he has to deal with guys like Steve Simmons who only care about making themselves famous. But he better get used to being asked the tough questions. The media gave the Leafs a free pass last season because they, like the fans, bought the goal of tanking for Auston Matthews as well as doing the total rebuild from scratch. But now we're starting to see a little bit of expectation by the Toronto media. Not a lot. But a little bit more than last year. Babcock has always been somewhat of a Sensitive Sally when it comes to the media. So it will be interesting to see how he handles the Toronto media going forward. |
