Matthews has the NHL scoring lead

The way he looks out there, I can see him getting tired throughout the season, but I don't see him hitting a confidence rut or anything like that... he looks pretty composed out there and not too flashy. Gonna be interesting to see if he can keep it up.

But he has only won 47% of his faceoffs

i know i know... you want to trade all the experience away for d men

i cant say i agree... but to each their own

- Dozzer

It's quite clear that this team belongs to the young players now and the 'vets' are rapidly becoming obsolete.
Better to trade the Kadris-Bozaks-JVR(-Hunwicks-Polaks) etc. to teams that need some good quality depth players; most of them fit that role quite well (Kadri and JVR even more than that).

Breakouts out of d-zone with Nylander-Marner-Matthews and Rielly and Gardiner on the backend shouldn't be a problem; it's clearly a d-zone coverage. That's on most of the D-men (or all of them) but as well a guy like Martin for example who has looked very shaky in d-zone (not sure why he is given PK time).

Nick Ritchie is a good ol boy who cares about his teammates and has a lot of heart.

Nylander only gets lots of goals and assists.

Leafs get boatloads of cap space next year. Theoretically, the club should have more ELCs on the payroll. Even if Andersen becomes a backup in the next couple of years, should be able to let his contract run out without having to buy it out.

At least he could suck up the odd rebound...this guy, i've seen maybe 1 puck stick to him.

Every blocker save he's looking in the net and the (frank)ing puck is sitting right in front of his nose.

He's obviously got confidence issues.... I was joking with a friend last night that maybe he needs glasses.

There are times he looks relatively at ease making a good stop. Then there's times where his decision making process fails him like on the Hedman goal where he tries to scramble to cover the puck instead of staying in the butterfly. Then there's chances that the Leafs give up that are pretty darned good.

After December I'll be concerned if GAA and SV% don't start approaching 3 and 900 respectively.

I'm not too worried...the whole D core needs to get better and Andersen needs to control his rebounds or even better not give a rebound on every single shot.
