He was an bumhole before the Andersen thing.

Surprisingly enough a lot of the Andersen nuthuggers were bumholes before this. I think the problem is that they are desperate to believe that we are headed for a cup and that everything new is better than everything old and our management group in infallible.

If Andersen was playing well I would defend him. However, he's (frank)ing swimming around his net like a lunatic. The massively crap defense doesn't help, but if he needs an elite defense to constantly bail out his wild leaps and terrible rebound control on lateral movement, then we're (frank)ed anyway because he's paid to be a starting goalie.

At least we won the Corsi battle.
- AdamFrench

The number 2 rule of advanced stats is:

If the results measured over a given sample do not agree with what Corsi (or Fenwick or (frank)tard or Hero charts or whatever) would predict, then the sample size is too small, or too big.

The only correct sample size is one in which the actual results could have been predicted or explained by Corsi.

I could be very wrong here, but i feel most of the Andersen sympathizer's (dare i say wives?) were more Reimer guys than Bernier guys if memory recalls

I realized with time, that this is what I find incredibly annoying with advanced stats advocates.

The soothsayer/fortune-teller attitude.

Last week was the theory that it had to do with Babcock's coaching and people from previous Babcock teams speaking up about it.

I was kind of ready to buy into it because I would also love to believe we had a good goalie.

The thing is, his play is unexplainable. Last night, the announcers in the 3rd were pointing out every time he made a routine save. The thing is, on at least one I can remember, he was very close to blowing it. He wasn't even fully in his net and it pretty much hit him.

He's way out, he seems to leave half the net open, he is down as soon as the other team gets near the puck.and he can't seem to track where the puck is so he is diving to the other side of the net half the time.

I am hoping this is all good news. My reasoning is that a previously-successful NHL goaltender cannot possibly be this abysmal. There has to be some consistency to his game we haven't seen yet. He has to settle in, doesn't he?

.. and it would be nice if the defense had a (frank)ing clue out there.

I can't remember.

I was a Reimer guy. I fought this same battle to a lesser extent, against the Bernier sympathizers. I never thought Reimer was a "good" starter, but if we look at goalies over the last 10 years, I think he was the best starter we had.

That's the thing. Bernier and Reimer played behind the same D, arguably worse, and they looked better than what Freddy has so far.

Dozzer, did your band ever play at C'est What? I know you played some place in that area, but couldn't remember if that was it.

i have played there actually... a few times... but that was way back when the band first started and we were still doing the acoustic thing...i don't think our current lineup would even fit on that stage now... nice place, i liked it there
