What I understand so far....

Lefty it seems you are advocating for JV to play with the Sedins which has been mentioned but not tried for more then a shift or two last year.

Vantel wants more bangers on the team so JV can get more skilled linmates to play a power but skilled game.

Some others say to send JV down he's not ready for the NHL or needs to develop etc. as if somehow he will learn the NHL aspects missing in his game now in the AHL.

Guess playing against lesser talent and slower players teaches you those fine points.

I know it seems like I am pushing for JV to play with bangers but it is not exactly like that.

I am saying if you want him to bang the get him linemates to help him bang.

If you want him to score get him linemates to help him score.

Don't send him out to be the lone banger.

I'm starting to think you don't have any idea about the talent level and benefits of the AHL.

I would be willing to bet that JV could go down there and still not produce at a point per game rate, nor would he be dominating in any fashion. That is why many are suggesting he goes there, because if he can't dominate the AHL, there is zero chance he will dominate the NHL any time soon

I firmly believe, like a lot of the experts, that the main reason the 2003 draft class was so successful was because almost every one of those players spent the 2004/05 season in the American Hockey League.

So far I do, but that can change too, like anything else in life.

Yeah, a couple of busts later and the drafting becomes a bone of contention instead of a symbol of worship.

Once upon a time, Gillis was a godsend for drafting Hodgson.

We'll see what the future brings.

It's way too early to say but there is potential there....potential is meaningless unless realized though.

There are benefits ... sure.... but more often then not it's a necessity issue due to what's needed or available on the roster in the NHL.

Okay call JB tell him he's crazy keeping JV up bury him in the A ...

Lefty and Vantel will tell you it's the quality of the minutes and linemates and role that has caused issues for him.

- Nuck4U

There certainly are good arguments both ways, huh? Jake is not ready for a day to day spot but on the days he is hot, he is fantastic.... it's just those days became more and more rare as last season progressed.

I do not think he should have been here last year. Canucks had no one else to play so they had to have multiple rookies (7? at one point) on the team. In a perfect world, he would have stayed down one more season and came up far more professional, disciplined and ready.

I'm saying give him 16 meaningful minutes in the NHL or 20+ in the AHL.

I think there are some people here that don't understand that... it's a professional league with professional players where you learn how to play like a professional. Some of the criticism we've seen of JV is lack of awareness and not showing up consistently, which is what it takes to be a pro. I personally think he should go down and play big minutes and a big role to learn how to shoulder that, while still learning the ins and outs of the bigs/defence/consistent confidence.

Well it seems there is a maturity issue with JV right now that is pushing this stance

I potentially poop my pants but it was just a fart?

Whatever, Benning's drafting is my bastion of hope. Too early to start poopting on that.

I would take 6 Hansens as the middle 6 forwards on my team.
