If we had a coach that kept the pedal to the floor we probably win as well....
- ImThatGuy

I got pretty frustrated this morning when I heard Bylsma say in his presser that "we have to learn how to win those games."

I have a hard time believing the players unanimously came up with the plan to spend the entire last period off the forecheck and on their heels, or that any of them came up with the idea to pass the puck to the goalie during the OT.

Agreed. Especially against a team that played the night before. At some point, when do the players say screw this and just do what they want though? I find it hard to believe that they felt what they were doing was effective.

Also, that Kulikov hit fired up the Flyers and was unnecessary at that point in the game. I honestly hadn't had an issue with his play so far until last night.

That's the part that drive me crazy . You would think the players are out there for the reason to put the puck in the net . Coaches job is to keep them focused on that.

The lines he put out there were amazing too. Foligno, Bogosian, and Larrson I think was a trio? Like is that a threat to score?

Well, O'Reilly and Reinhart can't play the whole 5 minutes....so who else could they have put out there that wouldn't make us say "Why is this guy out there in OT?"

He made a lot of saves that I thought were really impressive. I don't think he really had a chance on any of the 3 that went in during the 3rd. Would have liked him to not drop down so early on Voracek's goal in the SO. That's my only "complaint" and really, if we had guys that could score in the SO, it might not have mattered.

If "Echl" scores in the shootout, we win! or something.....

Where do we all stand on the pass back to our goalie in OT?

Part of me thought it was a great idea, basically a 4th player, allowing us to re-group and change for fresh guys. Part of me cringed and boo'ed just like the Philly fans in the rink... some of those passes back to Nilly were from inside the Philly zone

Girgensons can actually skate, Okposo, Ennis, Gionta can skate.

I don't get Larsson or Foligno at all.

I realize I don't post much, but I read often, and I have said since day #1 that Bylsma is a bad coach. He is a bad coach, and the players will bail on him this year if he keeps this poop up.

I think if executed correctly, it's effective. I also think that they implemented that because there were quite a few times last year where our guys had a decent shift in one end, ended up turning it over and then had to skate back to the other end and were gassed, resulting in a goal.

Passing it back to the goalie allows you to maintain possession as well as get a line change in. But they need to execute it better for it to actually work in your favor.

I also would like to know why it was OK for Voracek to rip the stick out of Risto's hands in OT and not get penalized.

Bylsma deserves some blame, but there are still gaping, glaring, holes.

Still don't have a goal from our blue line
Still don't have a goal from Reinhart
Still getting massively out chanced
Still very slow

Eichel is going to help tremendously, but logic says we will have other injuries by then

- sbroads24

Why do people continue to single him out?

The only people who get a pass are O'Reilly and Moulson.

Everyone else needs to be better.

Is he not expected to score? You would think he'd step up in Eichel's absence, so far, it's been the opposite.

I keep forgetting about Okposo for some reason.

I'm amused that you included Gionta in that list, because I know there were people last year that did nothing but complain whenever he got used in OT. Not sure if you were necessarily one of them. Someone actually posted last night that they better not see him out there in OT.

He absolutely is, but again to single him out is unfair.
Ennis, Okposo both have 1 goal each, and if not for a puck that hits Ennis he has none.

They need to be better as well.

Which is more than 0. At some point, our expectations for guys not named Eichel, ROR and Ristolainen need to increase

Im not a Gionta fan, but with open ice 3 on 3, he's a much better option than 82 or 22

well...when youre drafted #2 overall....there are expectations...

I'm afraid we got us a Pat Falloon/Dave Chyzowski rather than Malkin/Laine
