I get accused of this all the time. I don't seek out new music to impress anyone or to try to ruffle feathers so I can be the zig to anyone's zag. Whether it's a newer indie band, a long forgotten 60s psych garage freak beat band or 80s post punk gem it's purely a labour of love for the craft.

Art should bring something new to the table; a unique perspective from an artist should be vibrant and refreshing to the observer, in this case listener. Too often most of our musicians are simply entertainers or get caught up trying to either shock their way (without decent music to accompany) or copy what's already been done over and over simply to sustain a career and to try something new is too much of a risk so their sound becomes unoriginal and brings nothing new to the table. It's like eating spaghetti every day of your life and being too afraid to try a home made burrito, and never listening to what the full spectrum that music has to offer by solely listening to bland bands like these makes choosing between Foos, GreenDay and Nickelback and the majority of what mainstream alternative radio has shoved on everyone's plate is like deciding whether I'll have the store bought Catelli noodles with the Hunts thick and rich or the Primo with the Ragu and never stopping to try the rich flavours of other types of food. Shawarma, butter chicken, pad Thai... There's so much incredible music out there from the last 50 years and most goes completely unnoticed or buried behind whoever has the best marketing and can create the most fanfare.

....and, here is that other!!!

Indie music is not generally my thing, but good music is. And, I have always held to the belief that there must be at least some truly talented artists in every genre. Even if I don't care to wade through the crap to find it.

McDonaghs gonna contend for the Norris this year if he continues playing at the level he has been so far. Never seen him better and he's doing so on a team that will challenge for the Cup.

Remember the Canucks are 5-0-1. Remember the Canadiens went 11-0 last year. Strong starts are nothing more than strong starts. We'll see where they are in a few months.

I agree, but it's all we have for now.

Besides, this is a James Tanner blog. We make biased predictions and speak them as absolute facts over here.

look if we are talking about Ryan McDonagh, he is a guy who captained a team that won a President's trophy, he is a guy who had a 10 point conference final playing from the blueline

he's a top defenseman, bottom line. This is no case of "just a fast start"

Chychrun His (late) 16th pick reminds me of another Dmen who was picked 15th in 2008

McDonagh is probably gonna get a lot of points with no Boyle or Yandle on the team (he's the go to offensive guy now), this has been predicted by most people. Won't be surprised if he surpasses 50 points and that combined with his decent defensive play makes him automatically a Norris candidate (but Karlsson will get more than 1PPG so nice try )

Remember when Keith Yandle was a top 5 defenseman when he was a Yote? Why'd those blogs about him disappear after he was traded?

He was definitely a top-5 defenseman on the Coyotes

They clearly were. Dominant at times and they lost for the same reason anyone loses to the Rangers - Henrik L.

I'm not going to say Zona weren't the better team, because I didn't see the game. But, to me the most telling stat in the recap was 22 giveaways for NY vs. 8 for the Coyotes. Obviously, a problem there. Maybe Arizona forced a lot of them, maybe it was an off night for the Rangers in handling the puck. But either way, Capt. Stats, you know that one is an outlier and the Rangers are the better team by a mile.

They were in the game because they hadnt played since Friday compared to the rangers playing the night before against the Caps in Washington then late flight. Thats THE only reason, but yes keep telling yourself these cute things

They weren't. The PP stunk and the Pk wasn't good. Henrik Lundqvist didn't score that goal.

In surprised you don't like the Rangers more. They seem to fit your mold for what makes a team good.

Lundqvist speaks for himself, but Nash is our oldest forward at age 32. Literally every other forward is 29 or under, with a lot 25 or younger including rookies like Buchnevich and Vesey who have a lot of potential.

Well part of it is accepting when they (frank) up. Mick Jagger is a legend but he also made music with Will.i.am.

Christ what a travesty.

Check out, "The Parable" rediscovered as well.

You'll need to strap in for that one though

I agree the Rangers are miles ahead of the Coyotes. The Coyotes were just a fast, aggressive team, and if they can play like that every night, they're going to be better than I thought.
