If the Jets have to trade Trouba they at least have to get a 18-20 year old previous first round pick D who is still projecting to be a top 4 guy plus something else. They are not going to get the left handed equilvalent to Trouba.

They are both very good young D men. I noticed both of them elevate their games after Ekblad went down at the WCoH.

What's the deal with Trouba, honestly? Is it just a question of ice-time? I look at your top 4, and I think, "yeah, Buf is top cheese for sure, but Trouba and Meyers have been pretty damn even for ice-time at around 22 mins... Rielly's doing that and isn't complaining, and he's barely getting any PP time".

TBF whenever he has had decent partners (i.e. Worlds, World cup) he's looked excellent. It's amazing what happens when you remove Hunwick or Marincin from his side...

Same with Trouba. I thought they both looked great at the World Cup. Reilly was definitely more impressive with his skating and puck moving skills but Trouba had more of a physical edge to his game and a harder shot imo. Trouba is not a poor skater by any means.

It's a question of optics: Rielly has the exact same amount of points as Lindholm, but took a modest deal compared with Jones, Risto, etc.; he also is just starting to get PP time, while quietly putting up points and logging 23+ minutes a night.

Trouba? He hasn't really done much, but wants out, and has been getting the same kind of minutes as Meyers... Buf ain't going to last forever; he'll slow down, he's 31, and I don't see him as a Chara Iron Man type guy (could be wrong there though).
