Same, they'd be a great top pairing imo. They could even each anchor a unit. That's why I wouldn't hesitate to throw in the prospect and pick AND retain salary. I doubt the cap would have any effect on Toronto, if it did they could retain for this year only and it should still work for the Ducks.

Anyways the point of the exercise was because so many fans in Ek's thread were adamant about not giving up one of Marner/Nylander so I tried an alternative.

Agreed!! both teams are loaded with young forwards and lack top 4 quality D prospects.

If the Jets have to trade Trouba they at least have to get a 18-20 year old previous first round pick D who is still projecting to be a top 4 guy plus something else. They are not going to get the left handed equilvalent to Trouba.

We are in the same boat as you guys, 2-3 years away from probably making serious noise in the NHL so taking Fowler who is a UFA in less than 2 years doesnt make alot of sense, especially when we own Trouba's rights for the next 4 years.

I disagree with this as well. I think the Jets current line-up with Trouba playing is almost playoff caliber already. They just need Hellebuyck to become a quality starter.
