No, I saw it. My reading comprehension is just fine. But again, that's not super easy. My guess would be Murray hasn't just sat around saying, "Oh look, Lindholm still hasn't been signed yet" and then done nothing in regards to it. A good GM calls and kicks the tires on things. I would imagine that Anaheim's asking price is high. And like other people have mentioned, the offer sheet thing really doesn't happen that often, mostly because in order to get someone to sign one you don't think the other team would match, you have to grossly overpay the player in the first place. An offer sheet isn't free. There's consequences and maybe the GMs don't want to give up the assets that would end up going back the other way.

My last post came across a little harsh
Sorry about that. Was just responding quick bc I was prepping dinner.

I think the Lindholm offersheet situation is unique to others though
Anaheim has put themselves in a spot where they can't match, unless:
-they trade 2 players with significant contracts
-take back little to no salary
-and get very little return

I do get all your points, they make perfect sense
Anaheim has just put themselves in such a brutal spot that they seem ripe to be taken advantage of.

Murray must just not like Lindholm
Bc a 1, 2, & 3 is not a lot to pay for a young top pair defenseman
It's actually a steal

So basically, it looks to me like the Ducks have 3 choices
1) let him get offersheeted, get back the picks
2) sign him, or match any offer, then try to get the best return they can for Fowler & another
3) try to trade Lindholm & get back more value than the picks

None of those seem like great options though
They've Fd themselves imo

Maybe if Bylsma keeps playing Gorges on the top pair, he will morph into one, and we can trade him

Hahaha
I know it's unlikely, but I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that Murray somehow gets Lindholm

As I see it,
Our 2 biggest holes are top pair defenseman & franchise goalie
It's possible that Lehner can still be that guy in net
I really like McCabe, but if he's our #3 then I think our defense will be in pretty darn good shape
Seems like Kulikov isn't gonna be the guy that pairs with Risto

Explain what ? he's not coming to Buffalo. not much more to explain. We have a better chance at Fowler then Lindholm and I doubt we see Fowler either.

I think most fans of other teams would love Lindholm too. He would slot in perfectly for us but we would have to give up a bunch for him.

I like McCabe in a 3/4 role. I think they are slowly acclimating Kulikov with his new teammates but he could be a TD move as I doubt he will re-sign here.

Explain why u think he isn't coming here
There could be a variety of reasons...

Does your source say that Murray isn't interested?
Or do u just think it won't happen for one reason or another?

Trying to gauge of this is your opinion,
Or something u actually heard that came from Murray

If we actually had to trade for him...
Then yeah, it would likely be a lot
Something like Nylander +
Maybe even more than that?

But an offersheet doesn't have us giving up all that much for him

Good points about Kulikov
Maybe they just wanna balance the pairs?
I agree with others that a Gorges-Franson pair would be pretty slow & could get taken advantage of
If we're out of the playoffs,
I think Kulikov & Franson are both trade bail

I gotta say...
I'm coming around about Fasching
But he still needs time in the AHL
And as far as trade pieces go,
I'd rather move him than Bailey or Nylander

Interesting stat time

Last year, with Johan Larsson on the ice, our team had a .945 Sv %.

Last year, with Kane on the ice, our Sv% was only .905, and our shooting % was only 6.3%.

This is not me picking on Kane, but I think it's fair to wonder how much worse we actually are without him. Maybe he has trouble in any type of actual system

If Murray make any deals it will be for a Forward unless a good deal comes up for a D man. It will be Fowler before Lindholm and I doubt we will see him, nothing has been said at all about Lindholm when I asked.

I get that he has a self imposed cap, but if he wanted to, could he sign Lindholm and be over the NHL cap (say ~$2m) and then trade a player?

Like team can be over cap, but can't play Lindholm until they are under?

Just not sure how it works, like if they can't sign him until they trade a player, are they forced to "give away" a player?

- Lilroot9

Teams can only go over the cap for LTIR. LTIR doesn't remove the cap hit, very simplistically it just allows the team to go over the cap for the amount of the cap hit. There's a little more to it than that, but that's the gist.

They can not go over for any other reason. Remember when the Devils had Kovalchuk? There were a few games that because of injuries they couldn't even dress 18 skaters because they had no cap space.
