Has to be a bit nerve wracking for him when he see's this every game:

Rielly Marincin
Gardiner Carrick
Hunwick Zaitsev

- walshyleafsfan

I'm all for replacing Hunwick and Marincin ... but I think Hunwick is going to remove himself from the lineup on his own. He seems overall slower and I don't mean skating so much, his reactions are slower... and as a result he's getting crunched seriously at least once a game. Neil nailed him in the first game in Ottawa, and he's been pasted a couple of times since... that wasn't happening last year. And he's simply not going to be able to take that kind of physical abuse for long.

unfortunately with the Toronto fan base this seems to be the question continually... we hate on guys who aren't instantly successful, and hate on guys who take time to adjust.

yet we become all loving for guys who play great for a few games and then disappear.

and I believe the management until recently (with very few brief exceptions) took the same dumb approach.

this is a fan base where Sundin was openly and often criticized in the first couple of seasons after his arrival... because he wasn't Wendell. I'd like to think much of that has been created by the doinks who report on the team... but now all this critiquing of new players when they have played a sum total of one home game and four road games is just dumb.

team is competitive even with its "warts".... Andersen is clearly taking time to settle in... but the team has been in every game - as compared to losing what 10 of the first 12 last year.

it would be nice to be able to sit back and enjoy the games without irrational whining after each one.

His reply was to my comment so i feel the need to chime in here. i am in NO WAY criticizing kapanen. i think he is an A prospect. i just feel management views him expendable as he is not a home grown drafted player. now i understand not a home grown drafted player doesnt mean much to us. but as kapanen was not the player the leafs wanted (my opinion they wanted maata) they are not as emotionally attached to him. babcock my have huge praise for him and that is great. like i said i hope i am wrong with this i just have a big feeling he will be used as bait to lure a defenseman

Anybody else watching Andersen see Gustavsson in his first games in NA? He's swimming like a freaking fish. I watched him in the playoffs for Anaheim and he never played this erratically.
- AdamFrench

Andersen is suppose to be playing the angles and not move for nothing style goalie.. so i don't get it either..

But there's 3 things i'd like to see Andersen work at right now that's killing him and might be easy fixes.

1 - Stop going 2-3 feet out of the crease to cut the angle, rebound control has been so crap that it's not working. Stay on the crease line.

2 - Just as I was saying #1, Need work on the rebounds

3 - High Glove. It's worse than Reimers a couple of years ago. If goals aren't coming off rebounds, it's high glove side. (all 3 SO tries from Hawks were glove side too)

Since when is 7th overall top5?

And no, we don't want to go further back, bc year before Kadri was our dear friend Schenn at 5th overall (top5!) - let's not discuss how that turned out.

Him and Liepsic are driving the Marlies right now. For Trouba..yes I would put him in a deal. But for anyone lesser than Trouba I would not.

Even in 2017, the rookies on the this team will only have 1 season experience, then you bring in more players with less experience. Im not sure they would do that.......I could be wrong.
Gonna be a long season specially if they cough up every 3rd period lead they have.

Hoping this is a good learning experience. Seriously, you can't have better illustration of the value of playing a 60 minute game.

All we had for 1st round.. Almost anyone should be able to make a good pick in the top 10..

Only a couple of teams have ever made a bad 1st overall pick, but it happens.

Yeah, read the Biron tweets.

This is now a thing being discussed. Yes, he looks a lot like Gustavsson. Apparently it is Babcock's system.

Did Santo say top 10?

I'm pretty sure this fact hasn't been brought up enough yet, need at least 2-3 more people to come up with this revelation.

Fikitov disagrees. So does Cody Hodson. The list is endless off failed top 10 picks.
