Well, they made other moves as well. - Fakepartofme
Fair enough, but the sky doesn't seem to be falling even after the biggest of the "untouchables" (before McDavid obviously) was traded.

They had so many talented forwards, they could easily have afforded to lose Hall.
Wasnt my first choice, but it seems like the right one so far........in 5 games. |

Wonder if we could take back Bieska from Anaheim and send JVR their way for Lindholm or Fowler. - gravyface
The Leafs have so much cap space nex year they won't know what to do with it. And if Cowen ends up being bought out the leafs have even more this year. I would take on Bieksa's contract in a heartbeat. Might be a good veteran guy to have around as well. If Fowler is coming the other way that is. |

Talbot has been good for them.
Nugent-Hopkins doesn't look good by the way.
I liked him, but he seems invisible..
Edmonton didn't luck out with their top picks; Hall gone, Yakupov gone and Nugent-Hopkins looking so so.
although obviously if these guys would have panned out or they picked others over them (Galchenyuk, Landeskog) over them, McDavid wouldn't have been on the Oilers, so eventually work out for them. |

Anybody else watching Andersen see Gustavsson in his first games in NA? He's swimming like a freaking fish. I watched him in the playoffs for Anaheim and he never played this erratically. |

I also think they did a horrible job of developing. |

These guys have to be replaced. They just aren't NHL players. |

Yakupov is having a decent start in St-Louis.
I really hope he turns out great because (frank) the Oilers. |

Do Leafs still own Hartikainen's NHL rights?
Would not be surprised Leafs add him next year to team if so. |

He looked good against the Oilers, still doesn't have the brain to match the natural skills though. |

Me as well. They had so many first overall picks and failed on them. It took a no doubter impossible to (frank) up franchise saviour in Mcdavid to finally turn them around. |

With the slide rule, Kapanen's ELC really only started this year, that's why there was no way he was going over 9 games last year. This may be his third season in the AHL, but he's just now 20.. if he was drafted out of north america this would be his first year of eligibility with the Marlies. Is this where we are now, writing off players as busts by their 20th birthday? - leafsfann
unfortunately with the Toronto fan base this seems to be the question continually... we hate on guys who aren't instantly successful, and hate on guys who take time to adjust.
yet we become all loving for guys who play great for a few games and then disappear.
and I believe the management until recently (with very few brief exceptions) took the same dumb approach.
this is a fan base where Sundin was openly and often criticized in the first couple of seasons after his arrival... because he wasn't Wendell. I'd like to think much of that has been created by the doinks who report on the team... but now all this critiquing of new players when they have played a sum total of one home game and four road games is just dumb.
team is competitive even with its "warts".... Andersen is clearly taking time to settle in... but the team has been in every game - as compared to losing what 10 of the first 12 last year.
it would be nice to be able to sit back and enjoy the games without irrational whining after each one. |

If pot is legalized before the end of the season, you might lose your bet either way.
