I always liked Markov's vision on the ice and his ability to pass.
Should be interesting to see if Radulov can do a better job than Markov to set up Weber for his booming shot.
Still early in the year, so it's not a bad idea to try different combinations. - Garfield512
i think the depends on them being able to threaten down low on the PP. if they can't, then teams will key in on Weber's shot same way they did on Subban's last year. i think until Montreal proves dangerous up front, it will be tough to get Weber in prime position to really step into it. |

agreed. pretty sure his intention was to take out both knees, not just one. |

I'd like Kreider to try that again this year ... there's a new man mountain on the blue line to take his head off if he tries. - Garfield512
I think Weber's tuffness is a bit overrated.
He hits very hard but I honestly Kreider won't give a poop |

the point is, at the time, nobody, but nobody reacted. nothing. no retaliation what so ever, and they ended losing the series in part because of that IMO.
today, pretty sure someone would react. weber, beaulieu, shaw... anybody, doesn't matter. don't have to win the fight, but you have to react. |

Good point, that's why I would prefer having Radulov up front as I feel he would be more useful up there ... and have Weber-Markov on the back end.
It's still early in the season so there's nothing wrong with trying new things (keep the other teams guessing).
In the end, what do I know ... I'm just a silly orange cat. |

maybe somebody would react. and it would have been satisfying on some level to see Kreider lose a tooth or an eye or a hand, but at the end of the day we still would have been without Price in that series. i think when guys take cheap shots, they're just wieners and nothing will really deter them from it. |

When Markov got plastered by Zack Smith this season, no one reacted.
And when when Sergachev got plastered, no one reacted either. |

it's not about beating the crap out of Kreider, it's about standing up for a teammate and not giving up.
tokarski played well enough in the following games for the Habs to win the series, but the team had quit, was ready to lose. no CHaracter, thank to Mr. Plek and Markov whose leadership was again displayed last season. no wonder MB went out and got some from the outside. |

Probably not but players on other teams might think twice before charging our net if there's a heavy price to be paid if they do it.
Deterrence can be psychologically as powerful as wallpapering someone in the board. |

true but different for a goalie, especially when he's your star player, imo |

They are pro hockey players. Pretty much everybody can make Gallagher pay the price but he's still going to do it |

True, guys like Gallagher (pests) don't care but a lot of other (perimeter) players do care and hate getting brutally taken to task in front of the net.
Weber is like a big neon sign in front of our net: Pain Zone, enter at your own risk. |
