Virtanen needs to be sent to the AHL ASAP

Guy is completely in over his head.

He may be worse this year than he was last year.

That's got to be the best tie ever in history... how many players could say they were in a game where both teams in OT had chip shot FGs for the win and both teams muffed them. Seattle should have gone for it instead of going for the FG, they still had a lot of time on the clock and a timeout.

AZ had 3rd down at the 2......probably also could have waited for the challenge but I think Johnson was short.

Tonight was awful, but the Canucks were leading the league in Corsi through the first 3 games or so, which would suggest they were more unlucky despite the scores. Small sample size, but they played well in the first few games

Yup.... but the they suck boo bird trolls can't wait for them to lose some more to show they were right...

The schedule is going to keep getting harder and injuries are on the rise so let's see where they can keep it together.... the start was needed so they just have to keep squeezing out some points ... this game was bad but they didn't get blown out or dominated... they had their chances ... that is at least something to build on... clean up the errors and press more.

He's got more to lose so adjustment is harder .... why he needs playing time in the NHL to get over that ....

His foot was out of bounds before he hit the pylon and the ball never clearly crossed the plane of the goal line before he went out of bounds. But I agree, some bad decisions by Arians and Caroll at the end of OT. That 5 yard Delay of Game penalty might have helped freeze the AZ kicker as well and threw him off.

So we shouldn't have traded for Gudbranson? Can't have it both ways

It looked like the Canucks were skating with steak knife blades and stick handling water balloons tonight.

Edler was the ugliest of the D but even Tanev looked bad at times. Sbisa was a wreck.

Eriksson had a strong game.

Six games in nine days. Ouch... someone called that a gift early in the thread.

Worst game I ever seen Tanev play. Last night and tonight Sbisa and Larssen should be out Lebate Pedan and Tryamkin should be in .

Everyone is entitled to an off nite. Tanev has been solid through the years but tonight looked like a rookie.

Canucks need a fast roster and big team roster. Guys like Sven JV Burrows have done very little so you may as well put big bodies in to battle

Badass mother(frank)er.

If Dorsett is out for a while we should slide him into his spot.

Well that was a bit of a dumpster fire for quite a few players.

Plus I hate to say it but those last two goals Miller needs to be tracking the puck better. It sucks because we don't know what version of Miller we are going to get on a night to night basis. the 4-5 goal version or the two goal version...and we aren't going to score more than 4 GPG consistently. At least Marky tightened up after the weak ones vs LA and gave us a chance to tie or win. Gonna be a tough run.

Tanev looked tired as did half the team. Must have been the humidity in the warm building in ANA that got to Miller...lots of empty seats there too for ANA's home opener...

Mr broken stick shoot in the pads Edler gets about 4 PP goals per year.
- VANTEL

he's actually gotten a puck or two through to the net. i think the competition for spots might have woken the guy up... Hutton, Stecher, Larsen all looking for PP time... might have shaken some cobwebs and complacency loose....

I've been advocating for JV to go to the AHL before the season started... he needs to learn the power forward game under Green's tutelage while we still have someone on the farm who knows what he's doing...

Can't get too excited when they luck out..........which they did for the first few games. But nothing has really changed. They have improved incrementally, that's all.

And thanks for the constructive crticism

Giving more ice time to a player who clearly is not ready for the NHL is counter productive. Virtanen has the speed and grit to play in the NHL, but his hockey sense and timing seem to be WAY behind. Top line minutes in the AHL on the first line will beat sheltered minutes in the NHL. He has done nothing to deserve more minutes. In fact the more he plays, the more lost he looks.

So you're saying it was a bad pick?

I always thought of Kassian when I saw Virtanen. Pretty much identical player.
