Not a fan of Corsi stats, except when they show how bad Edler is.

@BlakePriceTSN: Alex Edler was a -23 Corsi at even strength.. I've never seen it. Can't remember many double digits even.

That's Dan Girardi bad.

Should have put Tree on that 4th line tonight.

They don't have confidence in him being able to play yet.... meanwhile 18 more games until Bieaga has expansion draft value

When is WD gonna put Hansen back with the Sedins. We know from watching them they take a different type of player. Eriksson played well with them on the large ice surface. He is a smart player and I think he could do well after some time with Bo or Sutter who play a more traditional style. Baertschi is not the answer.

And what could we get for Edler? Getting tired of his brain cramps and he could probably bring a good return, NTC not withstanding

And yeah, Virt needs to go down and play a ton

I wouldn't say that.... skille played third line but showed nothing
- Nuck4U

JV and Skille have each had two games there and both shown very little, but Skille IMO was more visible, as was the entire line. Aside from his goal, I didn't notice Horvat until I saw him playing centre between Skill and Gaunce in the 3rd. Bad night overall, but I want to see JV be better with the puck and would rather him go to the AHL

Sbisa is back to pizza dealin', Edler is back to his brain fartin self and Hutton is having defensive issues. The foundation is starting to crumble....

He doesn't need to score to play better than he is,,, but it would help that's for sure.

Don't be a twat.

Can't get too excited when they luck out..........which they did for the first few games. But nothing has really changed. They have improved incrementally, that's all.

And thanks for the constructive crticism

That's the rub cause you want him go down he would have to blow your socks off to turn that impression around.... but right now as it stands he's needed here

I'm not biased against him, I really believed he would feel a lot more comfortable in the NHL this year. I thought his second half of the season last year was underrated and something to build off of, but I think this early shoulder injury in changing the way he plays. He had as many hits as Sven against LA and couldn't make simple passes today, and as a power forward floating isn't an option if you don't have the hands and bring the scoring.

I also agree with your second point, he's needed because he is much better than the AHL options, but whenever Rodin comes back, your top 9 would be Sedins-Louie, Sutter/Granlund/Hansen, then Bo/Sven/Rodin. JV will need to bring offence before that happens in order to remain on the team IMO

That's not accurate.... and a disservice for what they have managed to do so far. They had a bad game... against a good rested team down in points on their home opener yet still manage to stay in this one to the end. Could have just as easily taken a point or two. Now for problems it's obvious on the play what are your suggestions on solutions ...?

Okay so he's disappointed .... but WD going with win now no development priority is not giving him a lot of rope so it is tight on him and he's been playing conservatively which doesn't help his cause.

Injuries being what they are we will have to wait and see where he's at with a fully healthy roster.... but a two way scoring type would be good for a 4th line balance if we have that talent option without taking away from other 3 lines

Tonight was awful, but the Canucks were leading the league in Corsi through the first 3 games or so, which would suggest they were more unlucky despite the scores. Small sample size, but they played well in the first few games

It looked like the Canucks were skating with steak knife blades and stick handling water balloons tonight.

Edler was the ugliest of the D but even Tanev looked bad at times. Sbisa was a wreck.

Eriksson had a strong game.

Six games in nine days. Ouch... someone called that a gift early in the thread.

Sorry got distracted....ah St Louis. They outplayed St Louis. The rest is a fair assessment. Their defensive discipline will allow them to stay in more games this year, but they are still offensively challenged which will not change until they change personnel. Time to look at who is gonna be here when they are ascending. The Sedins wont be going anywhere but as I suggested earlier Edler is an intriguing possibility for trading. Their number one priority should be getting a replacement for their best player, Henrik Sedin. He cant keep it up forever. OMG he missed

Never said disappointed, I think he is capable of more but I think the injury and the win-now is getting in his way of his potential. I would like to think he could breakout, but seems tough to do in the current bottom 6. If/when everyone is healthy, it will be interesting to see if they can give everyone enough ice time and still win games, I am skeptical of that but WD does roll them a lot. Biega had a minute less ice time than one of the Sedin's through 2 periods...

You are extra butthurt today. No one is hating Jake. He's simply not playing very well at all. He has lots of company tonight though.

That's got to be the best tie ever in history... how many players could say they were in a game where both teams in OT had chip shot FGs for the win and both teams muffed them. Seattle should have gone for it instead of going for the FG, they still had a lot of time on the clock and a timeout.
