What in the world is going-on with poor ol Jake Virtanen?

Can't say I'm overly impressed with his treatment/deployment.
Had a very impressive showing versus (i think it was Carolina), where he was flying around causing numerous turn-overs and take-a-aways in the offensive zone then gets replaced by Skille for 2 games....

I truly do understand the need to make rookies/youngins 'earn' it and what-not, but not giving him any favorable match-ups, offensive deployments, PP time or any ice-time in general cannot be conducive to his development or confidence.

He certainly has more to offer then the likes of Burrows, Gaunce, Dorsett or Skille

Play him or send him to Utica at this point...

9 games in 15 nights with 2 back to backs is an easy schedule? Huh?

Agreed.
It's a tough spot, he does indeed have to up his game yet at the same time it appears very difficult to do so when he's out there for 20 second shifts culminating into a 10 minute game.

Another attempt to break burrows neck nothing being done about it, 2 minutes isn't going to do it. This league makes me sick, I expect injuries to start with the schedule the nhl lambasted them with on purpose to bury them early. Miller was quoted its weird they didn't play there 1st game till day 4 and then condensed a condensed schedule, I thought last years schedule was brutal but this is inhumane.
