I think Trouba is young enough to warrant moving a 1st for him. You're essentially just fast forwarding the development of a 2017 1st round pick and guaranteeing that he will be at least "pretty good". I think it'd be a no-brainer.

That said, it's definitely not enough to get him.

If a first rounder was used to acquire Trouba, the Rangers would be acquiring a 22 year old player. They aren't trading for Zdeno Chara.

I get the desire to keep first round draft picks around, but the age of the player being acquired has to be considered in the calculus. I swear, if the Rangers could acquire Austin Matthews for this year's first rounder, some people would female dog about giving up the pick.
