He's more of a blocker, he plays higher out of his crease than the likes of lundqvist or price. Makes him more suseptable to that cross crease pass. They need to be way better are stopping that. its the toughest stop for a goalie to make. They've allowed far too many, Andersen has easily stopped as many as he has allowed (of this type) and that is all you can ask for. - burn
I would like to see a reaction by the team to make some adjustments.
Andersen looks like he is athletic enough and large enough to be an effective goalie and he certainly looked better in Anaheim.

You will. It's only been 5 games and alot of rookies just getting their feet wet. They'll clean up some issues over time. |

Watch the replay.
Panarin was sooo far to the outside and Anisimov was sooo far on the other side....that's why Andersen had to go so far. Also, watch Hunwick having a leisurely skate back to the D zone with Anisimov right (frank)ing in front of him.
Any one who is putting this on Andersen is dead wrong.
I WILL REPEAT....IF YOUR TEAM D INCLUDES MARICIN, POLAK, HUNWICK....AND THEY ARE EVEN PLAYING TOP 2 PAIRING AT TIMES.....YOU'RE (frank)ED! - underhill14
yes, but not just this play is being discussed.
The point by Biron passes the eye test from what I have seen. The further the goalie out, the further they have to travel on a cross-crease past. If people are saying Andersen was not that aggressive in Anaheim, then there might be something to this problem. It could also be that Andersen is trying too hard, knowing full well the team in front of him is a defensive disaster.

Doesn't matter who's in net if you are allowing that many cross seame passes like that. If they are allowed to makes those so easily and no one is correctly in the passing lane or covering their man no goalie is going to be able to stop more than 50-60% of them. |

There are two sides to this leaf team. The one who takes leads and dominates most of the game. Then the one who blows leads in the final period. Guess which were only focusing on today. Gotta love leaf land. - systemtool
It's lunacy.
Matthews and nylander and marner tearin it up. Love it.
Rookies are killin it. Hopefully the vets figure their poop out and they can start closing game. Imo once they do it once (even if by accident, by the skin of the teeth) they'll get the confidence that thy can do it.

Yeah, you have to have that happy medium of being out and covering more, but also being able to make those side to side plays. In most instances, that can be done near the top of the crease, but so many times he's a foot or so ahead of that. I like the idea of being aggressive, but you can't make it so easy to remove yourself from the play, as he has been doing...

The problem as well is that they get a couple of goals up and then change how they play and sit back... why? Keep (frank)ing going - the other team isn't going to score when you're in their zone (well, unless Bernier is in net )... |

Nope. Sadly this isn't a case of trading a dollar for four quarters. If you want Lindholm, there has to be a quality player and/or a first going too.
EDIT: Bear in mind also that the Ducks have salary issues, so either you need to take a cap dump (stoner) or those players you send are on ELCs. |
