Burrows is here because his cap hit is untraceable, and he is a 13 or 14 year Canuck in what will most likely be his final season. I think it takes a lot of humility to admit you only have 4th line grinder left in you. Who knows, maybe we'll get lucky and he will retire mid season?

Gaunce is there because he can play C or wing, and showed enough through training camp to gain the trust of the coaching staff. I had hoped his upside was as a 3rd line C, but 4th line might be all we get out of him. It is his first season (I don't really count the handful of games he played last year during the tank), so maybe he can grow into a bigger role.

Jake has more potential, but he needs some quality time playing big minutes IMO. I noticed he was replaced last shift by Burrows... I wonder if it was that bad change on his lest shift.

I keep saying it, but I think Jake is still injured. He needs some time off to heal, then seasoning in Utica with 1st line minutes.
