Perhaps when no one is suspended and everyone is healthy, right now, it's mediocre at best. Streit is an aging one dimensional player, Schultz, Manning and AMac are generic 3rd pair guys, Ghost is fighting the dreaded soph slump and Provrov is being asked to do too much for a 19 year old rookie - BiggE
In my opinion, and this is not to excuse the defense, because they've made their fair share of errors in this young season, but when the Flyers team structure breaks down, it exposes some of the weaknesses in the defense, and they look worse then they actually are. It certainly doesn't help a young player like Provorov. One of the great benefits of having a true #1 defenseman, is their ability to control a game, and set the tone for a game. Players like Doughty, Keith, and Hedman can all do that. They can turn a game around with their play. Flyers certainly don't have that player. In my opinion Streit and MacDonald are capable 2nd pair defenders, despite Steit's slow start. Schultz is a veteran capable defensive defender. Manning has played well to this point, but is limited. Gostisbehere will bounce back, and get his game in order.

It's his girlfriend since college, I believe. They're both probably 23. I understand that in Winnipeg -- where people live a cold, bleak, short existence -- by 23 years old you already have great grandchildren and our preparing to be buried into the frozen-over dirt before being reborn as caribou......but that's what 23 year olds look like in America.
