Without Lucic and Brown being useless, the Kings don't have as much size anymore. Technically, we're heavier/bigger than they are depending on if JV and/or Tree plays with adding Gudbrandson.

They're an interesting story in that I don't think they ever shoot out of the gates on fire but they have lost some defensive depth in the last couple of years. Still a potented offence though with Kopitar, Doughty, Carter, Toffoli and Pearson.

They had a window of about four years where they were unreal, bulit for the playoffs type of team. They capitalized on two of those years....bastards.

Kings are the 2013/14 Canucks, except with an actual #1 D, but Doughty & Kopitar won't be able to carry them much longer... Carter is 31, signed 5 more season after this, Brown 5 more seasons, Gaborik 4 more seasons. Pearson and Toffoli benefited from playing with exceptional line mates and aren't as good as their boxcars suggest, and without Quick for the next 4 months, this team is in trouble this year.

Having said that, they still have enough to turn away the measly 20 shots the Canucks will take tonight, 3-0 Kings with the empty netter.

It's funny, the teams that are in that proverbial "window" almost always go for broke with deals and they almost always regret some of them, but if you win, it really makes dealing with contracts like Brown and Gabby's that much easier.
