I'm still right though lol

I agree with you on getting another high pick in the first round this year. That said I also agree with seeing a competitive team this season. I'm all for adding more blue chip prospects via draft or trade.

Old tough nuts , there's a pretty picture.

I use oil of Olay on mine to keep them supple and wrinkle free.

Much like last year I think you make a conscious decision in February about your realistic chances of your end-goal....playoffs or draft.

Did I mention the Nucks are playing the Kings tonight?

I did, and so far I'm way off. Most of us (old guys) have been down this Rodeo more than we care to admit. I like what's happening, but I also want JB to get more depth at center sooner than later.

People forget before the injuries Canucks were in the middle of the pack. When they happened Jim seen an opportunity to do a stealth tank. He had plenty of time to make trades but seen an opportunity to go after Mathews. His big mistake was the late California trip where we won three in a row. We had last place locked up if we wanted it. We couldn't be caught.

That was Bennings big mistake.

That is why when I say Canucks are a playoff team it is because we could have been one last year too. We chose not to, same as the Oilers and Leafs that also tanked.

I agree, once the injuries hit Benning, in my opinion, definitely tried to use as many AHL players as possible. They ended up with the poop end of the stick losing the lottery but a 5th overall is still, or can be, a game changer for the franchise.

Here's a link to see where teams were in the standings on certain days of the month. January 1st 2016 the Canucks were 39 games played 15 wins 24 loses 39 points....it was pretty much all over by then.

The Kings should be an interesting matchup tonight, I wasn't buying into the notion they're a fast declining team but they've had their issues early in the season. I could be wrong or it could be just way to early in the season?

Last year at this point Montreal was 7-0 to start the year, so I don't put too much stock into things until probably the end of November. By then the heavy sediment starts to sink to the bottom and the cream starts rising to the top.

Actually I predicted it in the offseason but I will enjoy the Canucks/Oilers start while it lasts.

Also a closet Jets fan.

I always try to be objective and will engage or counter what I believe to be closed minded arrogance. If I post something that turns out to be incorrect then I've been informed and appreciate being corrected. I like being open minded, I enjoy reading others points of view, you get to see people's personalities, humour and thought process.

I have noticed that there are posters that seem to have specific agendas when it comes to posting. There is absolutely no objectivity whatsoever, sure they will enter into conversations and usually have great input into those conversations. But they eventually revert back to their specific agenda.

I have noticed lately that I am becoming more aggravated by these closed minded posts and I feel that my responses are becoming more aggressive in nature. I don't believe that is appropriate because of my position as a mod, so I've decided to take a subbatical from engaging. I will probably continue to read Carols excellent blogs but that's about all.

I wish you guys well, and apologize for being a Richard.

I agree about the fifth being ok.

Franco will never allow a full tank again. We were so close but then he stepped in because of dwindling crowds. Elliot Freidman announcing on HNIC about the two mixed camps . Benning wants a rebuild Franchesco won't go for it. Right after that bam bring in Tryamkin , showcase for next year and win three in a row. We had it.

Good points…the look on Lindens' face at the draft showed it all.

Probably. Its a nice start but how will the Oilers bounce back after they lose 2 or 3 in a row?

Francesco want's to win a SC now, tall order. He's measuring his management team on making the playoffs, like all owners. All he's getting in the foreseeable future is first round playoff revenue, if he's lucky. In the meantime lower ticket prices and winning games deals with the apathy which has set in.
