Loved his chippiness. Zeroed in on the other team's star and just antagonized him all night.

One of my sleeper favorites was Rhett Warrener. One of the underrated acquisitions Darcy was actually able to pull off.

Didn't we get him for practically nothing??

We first acquired Warrener and a 5th rd pick (Ryan Miller) for Mike Wilson from Florida. I believe we traded him and Steve Reinprecht later on to Calgary for Chris Drury and Steve Begin.

That is insane...turning Mike Wilson into Ryan Miller and Warrener, followed by Drury.

The ironic thing for me is that I was such a Mogilny fan that I was devastated when they traded him. I resented Peca for it, until he ultimately won me over and became my favorite player on the team.

I personally got to hang out with Mike Foligno when I was a kid a bunch of times, so there was a huge connection there when he was traded.

I was mad at the Mogliny trade but not upset about it.

Interesting stat. There have been only 8 Sabres in history to get a PPG.

Perreault 1191gs 1326pts
Briere 225gs 230pts
Hawerchuk 342gs 385pts
Lafontaine 268gs 385pts
Martin 681gs 695pts
Mogilny 381gs 444pts
Robert 524gs 552pts
Turgeon 322gs 323pts

The last one to do it was Briere. Nobody since.

I was born in 72. I grew up with perreault "posters" on my wall, of course they were just courier express full page things, but im not the only one. And i had a dudley one with a headband. I think i first started really watching in 81. Perreault was still the best player on the team, but his ppg was being absolutely crushed by guys like gretzky, stastny, bossy...
