I believe I have a new saying for this year so far.

This team is going to make me drink... heavily.

My friend works for Billboard and they have artists come in to play daily. A few weeks back Creed came in and played Arms Wide Open and Higher. That poop came out 17 years ago and they are still the only songs they go around and play. If that's not impressive, then I dont know what is

Yeah...he is clearly the same player...but you would know that since you still watch all of his games
- YuenglingJagr

Is that a joke ? Are you kidding? Good riddance if and it's a BIG if he plays 50 games he will suck in 30 sorry but you will see and by the way your d sucks just about as much as ours so you keep pumping up dz see where it gets you

Also, I said it last year and people called me crazy, but something needs to change on the PP with Ghost. He had initial success at the left point, but it is not the same, and hasnt been since about March of last year...

- jak521

For starters he's way too far away. He's practically at the blue line. Shots from that far out are less likely to get through. He's got to move in a bit.

At this point, I would not advocate switching lines or defense pairings around. I don't think that's the issue right now. I think they just need to get their act together both in correcting individual errors, and getting more in sync systems wise in team play. That's where I think the issue is. Other than one change here or there, such as playing Lyubimov, I think they should focus on other issues.
- MJL

I agree, execution has been their biggest problem. Shots are getting blocked, passes are going to vacant areas. Need to tighten up. The ducks had three 4 on 2s by my count last night. That's either terrible line changing or unacceptable effort on the back check.

Flyers were lucky the officiating was so horrible last night. It favored them but a lot of really soft calls. Weise is really lucky he didn't get called for his elbow to the face of Korbinian Holzer (just before the soft tripping call on Getzlaf).

Not a fan of the defense pairings. I'd sit one of the starters and bring up Morin if possible – coudn't be worse considering the amount of goals the Flyers are surrendering.

The Flyers all around seem to be out of sync with each other. I feel like this happens in the beginning of the season when players are still trying to earn playing time on a line - as well as definition of what/who they'll be moving forward for the year; i.e., Matt Read went from bottom 6 defensive specialist to top 6 scoring winger.

Both Ghost and Provorov need to be skating the puck out of the zone - or at least skating up into the neutral zone with some speed before passing it off. When those players skate with the puck and dictate they gain confidence.

Backchecking has been almost non existent from this team for years. It's one of my major gripes when people female dog about the Flyers defense corp and goalies.

Jake looks good. Giroux actually looks ok too. The young players are letting this team down right now. The rookies and ghost. Schenn should be looking much better next game. It should turn around but once again the flyers are getting off to a slow start I don't know what else to expect
- Just5

They didn't get off to a slow start last season. It was November where they really struggled.

Back checking was almost single handedly responsible for the improved defense last year. They have the ability to do it. I think part of the problem is the passes havent been crisp and pucks are getting blocked. Once that gets cleaned up they will be spending less time chasing the puck down

Possibly. Flyers also had almost too much time from the time preseason opened to the their 1st game of the regular season. I'd put Ghost and Provorov together and pair AMac/Streit. If anything Manning probably deserves more TOI. I also realize with players like Manning the more ice time they receive the more 'vulnerable' they can become.

After 3 games Couturier was 34% on faceoffs and didn't look so hot last night. Only 4 games but something to keep an eye on.
- Just5

He had the best FO% on the team last night.

http://www.nhl.com/scores...rts/20162017/FS020052.HTM

I spent way too much time worrying about his faceoffs last season and he finished at a decent 48.6%, so I'm not gonna do that again.
