If Simon goes on LTIR could free up some money - how much who knows - If trading pieces - Cam seems the most likely -
if you could package that with Stoner might might might be worth it - would free up 7.25 take back picks and prospects - even if you had to retain a bit of salary ... say mil or so - still frees up 6 or so for 47 -

There's some posts on the Ducks message board that have crunched the #'s if both Thompson and Despres go on LTIR. Stoner/Raymond waived (to San Diego) also, the Ducks have over 6M to sign Lindholm.

A 1-3-1 road trip isn't an ideal to start the season, but the win tonight should get the ball rolling. Carlyle's behind the bench now, and the team certainly looks more awake. The stupid penalties can be remedied much more easily than merely going through the motions, which I felt was the Achilles heel when Boudreau was at the helm. Nevertheless, this team needs to learn some discipline. Harass, fight, and batte are parts of the game, but the instant you give a ref or player an opportunity to call or draw a penalty than that's not good.

Yeah, lots of penalties, but Perry was as tenacious as I've ever seen him! With Carlyle cracking the whip and giving him more TOI he's reestablishing himself. Same goes for Fowler, night and day difference there. Fowler use to be plagued by these bouts of passiveness, but Carlyle has him a man possessed! Good for him.

I know this is a SCF team, and IMO all 4 losses were the result of them beating themselves. There are 77 games till the start of the real season, so those problem areas must be fixed, because bad habits had them golfing in May last year.

Despres went down, so that's lame. I hope it's not as catastrophic as last year. I still don't have a clue what the heck is going on with Lindholm. The whole situation has given me a headache TBH. I do know Fowler is playing great. While it's easy to criticize management as this situation hasn't been what one would hope for. This team is better with Fowler. Best case scenario Lindholm, Fowler and Vatanen will be holding down the blueline long term. Hate Carlyle as much as you want, but his work with defensemen has always been top notch.

I think it is pretty obvious.... you have three players who could not make the Canucks on your roster.

Well you got your cut-man in a team that was clad in White/Orange/Gold/Black last night. SHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESH what a lifeless team the Ducks faced.

True. The flyers didn't have their best game . We gave them 8 or 9 power plays . They only scored on one . But it was a good game buy the ducks . Except for the penalties. But our passing was better . We didn't reliy on the dump and chase to much . And gibby played a good game . Not great bit good . Still letting too many opposing players stand in front of the crease . All in all I'd call the win in philly progress .

I'll mention this again in the future if it holds:

Last season down here in San Diego, Theodore, a lefty, played on the right side. This season he's been playing on the left. Make of it what you will. But I think the Ducks are planning on moving a lefty. Fowler? Stoner? IDK.

What I do know is a defense with Lindholm, Fowler, Vatanen, Manson, and Theodore would be pretty awesome for years to come. Who didn't like Sami's reaction to the win last night?

Figure the Ducks will make moves once they get home. After the game tonight, they're in the state until the Nov. 9 game @ Columbus. Raymond/Stoner will be sent to San Diego. Thompson and possibly Despres will be placed on LTIR. Ducks will have enough $ then to sign Lindholm.

I doubt Raymond will be cut to San Diego, who would replace him? This team is deficient at wing, the D situation is what needs to be figured out. Don't forget, he's had good success with Kesler in the past.

Everyone seems tough on this squad after dropping the first 4 games, but I have seen a better and more competitive Ducks team at the start this year than I did last season.

Fowlers/Vats been outstanding and Perry/Getz are performing up to their names.

Can't wait for 67 to re-enter the line-up.

Once again, this is not at all how LTIR works. LTIR must exhaust all available cap space before it creates any "extra" space. Basically Lindholm would have to sign for less than the combined total of all players on LTIR (currently 5.3mil), regardless of how many players are dropped from the NHL roster. Every cap hit that is cleared out reduces the amount that the Ducks can exceed the cap by that same amount. Unless of course they clear enough space to sign Lindholm without any players on LTIR.

Good game on Sunday . Less penalties . The defense was flying . Theodore made his presence known . And corey perry finally got enough space to make somthing happen . Even the man child aka Nick Ritchie got a goal . Things are looking up .
