It would certainly help.
Let's hope that once it gets clicking the PP goals come in droves. - Marwood
I hope not. I want them to start the season 5-0 without leading in regulation |

And yet we have outscored our opposition - VANTEL
Lol by not leading .... it's not the point .... the team by being behind have to leave the defense only WD play book to score... they can cause they have the talent ... just balance it out for overall play and more goals or leads are more likely |

This makes zero sense to me....I think it stems from a difference of opinion on his value. They should not trade Miller at this point. - CanuckDon
Fair enough
It's all about perspective.
I see this year as a development season, with an eye to a couple of years down the road, others see it as a year to chase the post-season and take our chances....
Neither side is wrong. This is just the nature of a franchise that is trying to play both sides at the same time.
It should create some interesting discussion this year, regardless of which way JB ends up leaning come the TDL. |

If it's dead puck era Devils hockey then bring on the tank for a savior cause winning isn't everything unless it's playing for the Cup |

Couldn't it be a development year with play offs ...? How else are they going to learn that aspect of what it takes ... consistency is for marathon season and playoffs it's all about laying it out there .... see how much more Horvatt came on with playoff experience |

For sure.
I'm hoping they make the post season.
But I think they can make moves with an eye to the future, without sacrificing this season.
As I mentioned earlier, I don't see Miller as a make or break guy, if Markstrom is a legit #1. There would likely be a serviceable backup coming back in a Miller trade, so let the lanky Swede run with it.
I just don't view a top 10 draft pick as a failure. Playoffs are great... adding picks and finishing bottom 10 is great. Honestly this season is a can't miss in my books. As long as JB doesn't trade futures to try to squeak into a wildcard.

I think its way too early to give up hope on a good year. Sure they arent cup contenders but sends an awful message to the team when the "starter" (or guy that was penciled to get the majority of the starts this year) gets dealt in the first month (presumably for youth and/or draft picks) despite the team's winning record.
Push for the playoffs and sell when the hope has faded |

Whats up with JV not playing? Wonder what player safety is saying to him? Chris franking pronger called a 19 year old a violent predator that has to affect him he seems like a sensitive kid. Polak faked that he was hurt he jumped up real quick after hearing the penalty, jake knows he let up and didn't hit him that hard in the shoulder and then takes a head shot which was way worse without a hearing. |

6 out of 6 points . 8 goals in three games . You think your expectations might be a tad high? |

Forsling? Benning got credit from most for that trade at the time. Clearly it didn't work out. What did I say about Forsling? I wasn't high on him when we drafted him and I am still not high on Forsling. He has played 4 games and has zero points for a team without cap room. It's no secret the Hawks don't have depth due to the crazy salaries there stars earn. Why would I care about little Forsling? Hindsight is a wonderful tool you have developed |

I agree with you, both sides have some merit. My point is, I wouldn't sacrifice this season yet for a meager return. I think Miller may earn us a 2nd round pick and would earn the same at the deadline. Why trade him now? If a bubble team offered a 1st than sure, sign me up. I highly doubt he has that kind of value.

WD approach to the game:
Play well defensively .... take away scoring chances... capatlize on opportunity....
"Hope at some point we have the chance to play with a lead"
Okay ... well gusss it doesn't sound like a coach leaning toward creating offense.... that only comes from playing good Defence .... but didn't JB say last game it's the forcheck that is producing more results....
I thought most fans enjoyed seeing a high tempo ... offensive pressure game ... that's puck possession right ...? Not let's sit back and defend ...
Is this why JV doesn't get the playing time to produce offense ...? - Nuck4U

That's not the point ... the start is amazing in fact historic ... love the outcome
And to get it they had to play a different way then how WD is setting them up.... which shows that they can play offensively so why not set them up that way as long the two way game will do better for them....
just seems WD is all about defensive .... it's not disatisfaction or criticism on the outcome ... but wouldn't you like to see puck possession offensive hockey from this team ...? |
