Great post Carol,
You would think that if JB asked Miller to waive for LA, he would go for it. What is he worth though? - VanHockeyGuy
Miller has little value now.... but if JB holds out a week, and LA is 0-7, the jackpot grows...
I think if we retain half his salary, we could take on Budaj and a 2nd - 3rd. That doesn't cripple them when Quick returns and gives us a decent backup for the remainder of the year.
I just worry the hot start has Benning seeing this as a contending team, and he'll hold onto all expiring contracts, as his history has shown. |

Cool and once we help LA get better how should we help our other divisional rival Arizona? |

Edler would look good next to OEL I think. |

Helping a division rival with a short term rental, in exchange for futures, isn't the sin you're implying...
Gotta be realistic about where this team is in the current rebuild. |

That is a terrible trade for Vancouver.
Miller is a starting goaltender still. If we are going to help out LA and potentially save their season, you demand more than a backup, a 2nd rounder AND retain 1/2 salary.
I would offer retain 1/2 salary of Miller for a 1st and prospect.

I think Benning is realistic about where the team is. We have a lot of young players and 3xA prospects.
I don't see a need to stockpile draft picks . Keep the ones we have and now concentrate on winning |

We have a lot of prospects but very few that will ever make a difference in this league. Boeser is about the only real high end offensive forward. And hopefully juolevi will turn into something. Keep stocking the farm...this team is still sliding , with no guarantee of a future first line talent. Drop the bum and get what ya can |

Zero chance Miller get's traded. Canucks management and ownership want to be as competitive as they can to create a winning environment for all the young players in their lineup. I wouldn't be shocked if the Canucks extended Miller for 2 more years.
1) to give Demko lots of time in the AHL to develop.
2) you know there will be another expansion draft down the road after LV (Seattle? Quebec City?) if you can only protect 1 goalie i'd rather have Demko playing in the minors and not eligible and have to expose Miller - Mungo
Irrelevant since Miller will no longer be under contract with Vancouver |

I'm sure that's what Benning will offer...
And, after negotiating, we'd be lucky to get the return I proposed.
Most years, you might be right, but the goalie market isn't strong right now.
At the end of the day, I doubt a deal happens between the 2 teams.
LA probably takes on a Pavalec type, for a 5th, and hopes for the best. I don't think they consider themselves real contenders this year anyways, so I don't think they give up much for a stop-gap.

Relevant since I'm talking about the next expansion draft after the Las Vegas one |

Demko Juolevi and Demko are high end prospects. Just draft a forward next season . We are not sliding we are just fine |

That would be a great deal. There's also a possibility that 1st may end up being a lottery pick. |

I think you could trade Miller and still be competitive. JB just needs to get creative. |
