Im saying instead of Larsson, why didnt they go for Trouba for Hall.

You can't sit out and pick where you want to be traded to. Doesn't work like that. Second of all, you gotta be kidding me planning for McDavid???

- kindlyrick

You kind of have to start planning for McDavid.

Exactly. What number is he gonna want to stay in Edmonton? Maybe he pulls a Crosby and asks for 9.7 per, but I'm not going to count on it.

No Trouba can't pick where he goes to. But he can decide whether he wants to resign once traded. If he has his heart set on an American club would moving Hall for 1 year of Trouba look better than Hall for 4 years of cost controlled Larsson? I think not.
McDavid's next contract is gonna be (frank)ing expensive. Would you sign with the Oilers for a discount? This is a cap world we live in now and one has to think ahead. McDavid and Draisaitl are gonna need to get paid.

- Wildschwein

I totally hear you, but you cant have 5 elite forwards and one dman. Soooooooo, if a kid like Trouba is on the market, and a team like the Oil havent had a good backline since 2006.......smart money says you take a look at Trouba. That being said, that fact that he's being a big PU$$Y and sitting out makes him not very appealing to me.

I hear that, and you know he's gonna get say 10 million a year......then take one of the other 5 forwards and trade them for a prospect. I still wouldnt mind taking Eberle off their hands. The Oilers have been top heavy for 4 years now.

Cappy has to get this "D" pairings thing figured out. Quick. Leddy and Hamonic suck together. Leddy not being in the lineup hurts, but he has not been very good in his own end this year. I'm glad Pulock will be up. He should stay up for good now.

And if they're not going to play Barzal, why is he up here? Can they get this kid into the lineup again please?

Pulock should be up. To me, at this point, Hickey or DeHaan.....pick one, and get rid of the other. The biggest problem this team has is that they have too many of the same players. I would love to see Garth take say DeHaan, Strome and a prospect and get someone on the right side.

They want Barzal to keep watching how the practices go.......he's gotta get the drills down.

I'm probably gonna take a poop load of flak for this, but I think (and have since long before the Hall trade) that Larsson is an excellent defense man. IMO better than Trouba. I was not upset one bit when Chia traded Hall for him (Oil posters can back me up on this). He and Hamonic were tops on my wish list, not because they are the very best mind you, but because they were realistic trade targets.

Ive said all along......even if Chia lost that trade head to head, he addressed what his team needed and went out and got it. More than I can say for Snowjob.

I would love to see de Haan moved in a package. He has been such a disappointment. Offensive dman.

Its so funny to me......other than JT, theres so many first rounders that Snow and Co have picked that are literally average NHLers. Obviously Barzal, JHS, and MDC are TBD, but the players who've succeded on this team have been later round picks.

DeHaan was supposed to be a PP QB.......he's about as much of a PP QB, as Josh Bailey and Ryan Strome are top 6 centers.

Edit : if i missed a first rounder that stands out please dont jump down my throat.....i know how hockeybuzz can be.

I did not expect Paul Coffey, but I expected de Haan to get way more assists than he has gotten. This was a player that could make these great passes from the d end. The first game I saw de Haan play at 18 he looked really good and looked to have very good offensive talent.

I still think the lousy coaching of Cappy has really hurt these young players. You never see de Haan even trying to make a play in the offensive zone. There is a lack of confidence among the young talent on this team.

I would have traded anything on the Rangers to get either McDavid or this past draft Matthews. Basically they will be the future Crosby/Ovi debate

I dont think the Rangers had enough talent/prospects to get McDavid. Honestly.

Nobody did. No way the Oilers or Toronto would give that pick up. Just a figure of speech on my part on how good I think those 2 will be.
