Can you define what constitutes "a disaster?"
Not agreeing or disagreeing, just trying to see what criteria a team meets to be labeled "a disaster." - jmatchett383
Bottom third in the league in efficiency, giving up 7 goals in a game, or wind speeds of 140 mph |

Because they aren't mutually exclusive and frankly have nothing to do with each other. Coots isn't playing with Rinaldo and Umberger. He's getting top 6 teammates that he deserves. It's not magic why he has improved offensively. It isn't getting a minute less PK a game. He's a rare player who can shutdown and score in tough usage. He's still going to get the toughest ES usage anyway. If he can score with that, why would PK affect his scoring? - Mononoke
It's ridiculous that they can't figure out that they need to use Coots on the PK more. Back in the day, Clarke centered the top line, often double shifted, played on the top pp unit and the top PK unit. Now Coots isn't the player Clarke was, but really, would it be that big a deal to give him an extra minute or 2 on the PK? |

And are 2-2.
It's 4 games into the (frank)ing season and they're a .500 team. I don't think that's too disastrous. |

Remember past discussion we've had where there was an issue with Couturier's usage, and how it was affecting the development of his offensive game? Seems no matter what, there's gripes on how Couturier is used. Not saying anyone is right or wrong about, just how the scale has tipped. |

I am not trying to take sides or anything and I am really just quoting you for the purpose of quoting someone, but why has the discussion often been about why Gordon is such a help because he can take defensive zone draws so they dont have to rely on Giroux so much etc if we are going to say the opposite about couturier |

Just for fun...Coots and Toews both allow the fewest goals/game on their teams while shorthanded |

You keep making nonsensical arguments here. My opinion of each of the goals in the Chicago game is on record. Your description of my opinion on the goals, is inaccurate. - MJL

Gordon being a rh shot wouldnt be taking the draws on Couturier's side. The problem is that Bellemare was 37% last season on SH draws which was terrible.

Actually he was 6th, but you can take out Kero and Fleischmann, and he's 4th.

He's clearly on their second unit. I didn't say average, and using players with 19 and 40 games is clearly going to mess with that. |

Well for one thing Couturier is bigger, stronger and younger than G, and he's a better penalty killer too. I'm not saying he needs to lead the team in PK TOI, but he should be in the top 4 without question |

That's my point. Look at pretty much every top two way guy on every team on the PK. Odds are good they're the best shot and goal suppressor and preventer on their team. The PK does better with them on it. It's not hard |

Two best PKers on the team are Coots and G, with Read in the mix on wing. I get why they are easing Giroux off because of injuries and a scoring drop at ES. Without ample scoring depth in the bottom (partly the coaches personnel faults), they need his scoring badly. And they have a few ok PKers after those guys. Not using Coots is criminal and has zero logic other than making the 4th line darlings feel special. |

Lol. He will be at wing too probably.
What the (frank) did VDV do last game except get all o zone starts and have the worst pssession stats and continue to be utterly ineffective? Lyubimov is honestly what the coaches think VDV is. |

Yup, IMO, Coots, Read, Gordon and PEB should be the top 4 with G and Lyubimov spotted in and Simmonds in a pinch. Vandevelde should be on the PK in LHV |

No but we agree. Surprise surprise that your best players do the best and win you games. It's a shame coaches fail to see this sometimes.
