I'm so glad Erik Karlsson isn't averaging 3.5 minutes PK this season or anything like that. How could he have 7 points in 4 games and be +7 if he was averaging 3.5 minutes PK?

That is just to make him eligible for Norris Trophy consideration

I was wondering about this line "seems to be an energy around the team that we haven't seen yet this season"

They've been on the road so I was wondering how much he's seen thus far.

Thanks Bill. On the plus side, our forwards look a little deeper this season. However, missing the D-men kind of hurts. Hopefully, the kids will live, and learn quickly. I realize that there will be a learn curve, but I just want the team to be competitive. It will be interesting to see what happens to our goalies right before the trade deadline. After Neuvy's showing the other night, makes me wonder who will be the last man standing. Will another goalie find his way into the line-up? Stay tuned...oh, the drama...lol. Oh, and these poor season starts have to change. Otherwise, some of the regulars should sit.

VDV is going to play, and you all are going to like it.

I know....I was just pulling your leg since the moved Hossa to the third line recently. It has been Motte-Toews-Panik

We proved a few years ago that any time Giroux saw more than 20 minutes the Flyers usually lost...I think it is safe to say that this is what they are trying to avoid
- YuenglingJagr

Fun Fact: Giroux has played the most minutes of any forward over the last three years.

What role? I don't understand this whole argument. Teams like the Bruins, Panthers, Kings and Ducks use their best players on the PK and it works fine. The Flyers used to do it all the time with Richards, Carter and Gagner.
- PhillySportsGuy

Just doing a quick search, all of O'Reilly, Bergeron/Marchand, Jordan Staal, Benn, Kesler, Forsberg, Kopitar/Carter, Henrique/Zajac, Reilly Smith all played top 2 minutes on their team's PK last year. Getzlaf, Krejci/Eriksson, Toews/Hossa, Landeskog, Frans Nielsen, Stepan all played top 4.

How floored would you be to find out that almost all of them are also among the best shot suppressing and goal preventing PKers on their respective teams? They also happen to be dangerous SH threats. I'm surprised Bergeron and Marchand and Staal and Benn and O'Reilly and Kopitar and all of them have enough juice to score at all afterwards.

I agree here. Not playing Coots regularly on the PK would be like taking Giroux off the powerplay to save him for ES. Coots is obviously the best defensive forward we have. Bad coaching in my opinion.
