Was there turbulence? - PhillySportsGuy
No but there was alcohol, so yeah, guess there could have been turbulence. |

Couturier needs to get top PK minutes though. Like you said, all of the other top 2-way centers get regular PK minutes. If the Flyers had a capable replacement, I would understand using him less. - PhillySportsGuy
So Coots finally is living up to a 2C standard offensively and you feel comfortable putting him right back into "be our #1 stud defensive forward" by game 4? This is why we cant have nice things. |

I took the day off. It's like school and work conspired against me to make everything due yesterday.
I thought they could have retained Gagner with no risk. I thought he'd add some nice depth in case a guy got hurt or Konecny didn't make the roster. I'm hoping Cousins is back in at 3C and he's flanked by Read and Weise. That line should be fine defensively and chip in offensively a little bit.

I believe LA uses Kopitar 2nd, but that's because they use Carter first. Carter is a little tiny bit better than PEB. Or Chicago uses Kruger above Toews. But generally, all top guys are seeing first or second unit action dependent on their teammates ability to pick up slack. And certainly not on the third unit. It doesn't hurt Bergeron or Barkov or any of those guys seeing top PK. It's just an excuse to get Hak's favorite twosome more minutes. They are inferior and it's that simple. They aren't comparable. |

Define "plays."
I'm sure we could acquire him for a 7th if we allow Arizona to retain some of his salary. - jmatchett383

Because they aren't mutually exclusive and frankly have nothing to do with each other. Coots isn't playing with Rinaldo and Umberger. He's getting top 6 teammates that he deserves. It's not magic why he has improved offensively. It isn't getting a minute less PK a game. He's a rare player who can shutdown and score in tough usage. He's still going to get the toughest ES usage anyway. If he can score with that, why would PK affect his scoring? |

Sorry. Forgot it was impossible for a forward to play on the PK and also play with top 6 wingers at even strength. I'll notify Kopitar and Bergeron of the changes. |

Last year, Toews ranked 6th among forwards on the team, in PK ice time. To be fair, the minutes of the bottom 4 were relatively close. |

Slightly off topic, but how do you plan on notifying them? It is not a big deal, but their birthday party invitations came back in the mail. I knew I should've done an e-vite. Mom was right. |

He was 3 actually. But you're right it was spread pretty even, which is ideal. He still saw a lot of action. Lappy is not spreading it around. They have their pet unit they're sending out every time. |

Kruger, Dejsardins and Hossa all averaged more SH TOI than Toews. If they had been healthy all season he would have been down around a minute per game.

I plan on telling Don Sweeney that analytics suggest Bergeron should both play on the PK and have quality linemates. |

I didn't say average.
And Chicago finished as the 20th best Pk and now they're a disaster so far this year. Clearly it's a good formula. - Mononoke
Can you define what constitutes "a disaster?"
Not agreeing or disagreeing, just trying to see what criteria a team meets to be labeled "a disaster." |

Actually he was 6th, but you can take out Kero and Fleischmann, and he's 4th.
