Could be Campbell out or could be Forsling out and Rosy playing too.
- breadbag

As much as many of us don't want to see it, Rosy didn't just sign to be Kempny's language buddy.

He's probably going to have to play sometime.

Hopefully he went out last night and celebrated #500.

He got banged up yesterday. I hope he doesn't have to miss any games.

Blackhawks practice lines:
Motte-Toews-Panik
Panarin-Anisimov-Kane
Hinostroza-Schmaltz-Hartman
Rasmussen-Kruger-Tootoo

I'm assuming Hartman is filling in for Hossa during practice today. If Hartman is in fact ready to go on Friday, where does he fit in? I'm liking Moose on that 4th line (Nice finish last night!), so a Moose-Kruger-Hartman line would work for me, but I know Q & the guys like to have "an enforcer" in the lineup.

I guess you could consider that to be Hartman?

Or maybe pull Hinostroza out and slide Hartman there?

- Rupe89

If both Hossa and Hartman can go on Friday, I'd expect either Hino or Tootoo to sit. Hino seems to have shown the least so far this season and I don't think Tootoo is an every game player. But maybe Q and the FO want to give Hino more TOI to give him a chance to grow. Hopefully Hartman picks up where he left off. I agree about Ras, he's shown he belongs on the 4th line. A Ras - Kruger - Desi 4th line sounds good when Desi gets back from injury.

The problem remains that the Blackhawks need a top 6 forward or two. Bottom 6 seems fine, especially with Hossa playing on the 3rd.

Taking penalties and somewhat fading in effectiveness could see Motte be the odd man out if Q wants to send him a message.

Toews is second on the team in shots and within 3 shots of being in the top 20 of the NHL. Sure, it would be nice if he had 15-20 shots, but he isn't exactly playing with anyone that can set him up off the rush, and his positioning on the ice when they are set up isn't always going to get him a ton of shots. For example, on an offensive zone draw, if he wins the faceoff the puck is going to the wingers or D for a shot attempt while he is going to the front of the net.

Maybe he could have gotten a couple more shots, for example instead of trying to setup Panik for a wide open net last night, he could have just taken a chance to shoot it past the goalie, but it isn't like he is dramatically low in shots on goal.

- breadbag

Offenses can be set up in many different ways any wing can go to the net, Toews actually hurts the line going to the front of the net when one or two forwards are inferior players.

Love Hossa, his work ethic, his compete level, honestly feel many other core players are lacking, evidence of not putting a team away last night but letting them right back into the game, it's too bad his shot is declining

We have a perfect example on line 2, Kane has rarely been to the front of the net and he shoots and distributes the puck always. Toews goes in the offensive zone gets rid of the puck, goes behind the net, gives up the puck to a team mate then goes to the front of the net, he needs the puck on his stick, he needs to take control and qb the top line, there is no#1LW available that is going to solve these problems

I agree Toews needs the puck on his stick, especially with this roster.
There is a LW that could also take control of that line, Panarin. I know the PAK line is the team's best so there is hesitancy to split them up but 19 flanked by 72 and 14 would definitely be an upgrade on that line. Kane makes anyone better that he plays with, maybe give Motte some time with him and AA and see what happens.

I've liked Hino in a 4th line role only. He's a good energy guy with elite speed, but need his hands to catch up. He can create mismatches on that line with speed though, and he can shoot. Did not care for him up top. Schmaltz has looked better each game. He actually seems to be learning. Motte is already Tailor made for line 3 with Kruger and hartman, IMO.

I like that combo too. It reminds me that this 10 to 20 game try out period is about more than just finding the right set of four lines, it's also about finding alternative combinations that work for those times when adjustments need to be made later in the season and the playoffs.

Thinking about it more, this makes sense if you want to keep TVR and Forsling both on their natural sides. Campbell just a victim of limitations.

Potential TVR trade for help up front?

No "serious talks" yet, it sounds like...

Probably move him to EDM-- they need Defensemen.

I like TVR. he looked intimidated that first game. I think he'll develop into a good Defenseman, but maybe the Hawks system isn't the best place for him?

I don't know, though.

EDIT:
TVR for Maroon would be pretty cool.

Yes Panarin is there, to me it's as if Toews and co are trying to replicate what they had in Saad, unfortunately Saad has moved on and line 1 continues to play the same style as if Saad is going to reappear out if the boards magically. Not going to happen we have no one of that caliber. Even when Ladd came here line 1 really didn't get that much better? It's time to let this style of hockey go and reinvent the next line and to me that's Toews carrying the play and facilitating others, and the thing is I know he can do it, maybe not as well as Kane, but well enough.

Line 1 was a lot better in the regular season with Ladd, just not the playoffs, but really, only about 3 guys were good in the playoffs.

I really think he needs to play more selfish. As others have hinted at he certainly could think to shoot more and pass less, and his ability to rush the puck through defenders or traffic has never been an issue. He showed flashes of his young self last night blowing by defenders and basically carrying the puck all the way to their net by himself. Remember that first big highlight reel goal he scored against Colorado in his rookie season? I'll never forget the blistering speed that was on display that night. He still has it

He needs to stop trying to cycle like you said expecting Saad to be there to retrieve the puck or fly up the wing for him. It's not going to happen with his current wingers. He needs to shoot and drive the puck into the zone and tell the youngsters to crash the net with reckless abandon.

Agree. I thought the best utilization of Ladd was with he, Kruger, and Hossa on the third line in the playoffs; had Kane and Panik with the Captain, and TT with AA and Panarin. It's a broken record but the problem isn't the line configuration, it's lack of another top six player or two.

That's how I feel, how often we get to see his wrist shot or slapper, I know it's there how many game winning goals did he have in OT last year

TVR will NOT be enough to get anything better or with more potential than Motte, Schmaltz, and Panik. To get a LEGIT, PROVEN top 6 upgrade it's gonna take more than a third pairing D.
