Didn't like that move either but in their defense they did turn that one pick into Dermott, Bracco and Dzierkals. So maybe a few more years until we can see how good/bad that deal was.

For real, basing trades involving a bunch of 18 year olds after one full minor league season and 2 NHL games is pretty premature. Dermott and Bracco are blue chip prospects.

I doubt he would turn down a contract offer from an NHL team. A promising NHL team and a well respected organization at that.

In some weird case that he's a dummy and thinks that as a 19 year old he can pick what team he plays for...the Leafs would trade him. He's got value. I doubt that's the case anyways
