Larsson that game
- RonPielep

Standby my claim mid summer. Larsson is just another Rienhart. We got a prospect when we needed a Shattenkirk (who rumor has it we turned down for Larsson).

Talbot is looking good. It's really his first year as a real starter. Oilers didn't show confidence in him last year. I think by the end of this year he will be stellar and next year a force in net.

link to a reputable source saying we turned that down?........

besides, shattenkirk is an upcoming free agent. we were never gonna deal an asset for a guy that may not resign. hell, he may have flat out said he wasnt gonna resign if we dealt for him

also, larsson is 10X the skater reinhart is. the 2 literally have nothing in common.

youre all about banging the same drum over and over and over even after its clear its total guesswork without an ounce of fact to it. or worse, been proven flat out false

didnt show confidence in talbot? he was pretty much given the reigns outta camp and played awful after a few decent starts. even went back to him after nilsson had played well. as soon as he earned it, the job was his again for the rest of the season. then signed to a long term contract.
basically what you said- except the exact opposite

Man, I'm evidently watching a different game if some of you thought the Oil looked bad. Far from a perfect game as they looked sketchy in the third, but they were competent and competitive the rest of the game (excluding their first PP). The forwards are competing well, controlling the scoring chance battle and the D is moving the puck a lot better. Larsson had some rough plays in the latter part of that game, but I'm not too worried about that being an issue.

Fair enough.

I think most of my frustration stems from the team's horrid Power Play... especially zone entries.

Passing has been far from crisp... lots of bouncing pucks, whiffs, and fans.

Beyond that... it's f ucking Carolina. The Oilers have to be better; period.

The first couple shifts were pretty poopty, lucky it wasn't 2-0 for the Canes the first minute or two in. They did settle down and played well for the rest of the first and second. Bit of good in the third but a lot of bad. Sat on their asses to start that period and let Carolina dictate the game.
I thought it was a mixed bag all round. They didn't deserve to lose the game but it could very easily have gone that way if not for Talbots late heroics.

Larsson was the same way tonight. The two giveaways were bad but how he handled the Skinner break away was awesome. I have no doubts that he will get better as times goes on and he acclimatizes to the team and the part he plays within it.

That's the thing, there's going to be frustration.

Their clearly playing better. Structure so much better, defensively... obviously there's going to be times where they fall back to the same team.

I wasn't able to watch the full game, had to stream the 3rd; but ya hopefully they improve on the PP

That 3rd perid was quite the puckering of a butt.

One factor I think people are forgetting is the players are still getting used to play on the new ice. Alot of them already voiced the boards being so alive. Once they figure that out they will be able to make it work better at home. Seems the puck starts bouncing quite a bit as the period goes on.
