WTF is going on in Ottawa ?

- Pecafan Fan

I think it's a mix of the fact that it was a Tuesday night game against phx, and the fact that fans are getting sick of an owner who runs his team like a salvation army outlet store.

that being said, I don't live in Ottawa anymore so I may be way off

maybe it was a "protest" against not bringing back Lyndon Slewidge. I know the sens have a poopload of tickets that are bought at the gate (very few corp season tix due to the fact that it's a gvt town) so maybe the fans held a one game protest or something.

Same thing that's being going on for a few years. They promo a S**t load of tickets, I guess they couldn't give them away last night. If it's not Bos, Mtl, Tor or a Saturday night it's hit and miss here.
Shine has wore off here. Ottawa' s future core fans are still too young to make a difference. Will improve with new rink and when those young fans have some disposible income.
For now it's the old crowd who see no progression and bored with them and internet fans who don't buy tickets. Guess they can't find their way out of their basements to go.

I'm starting to wonder if a (significant) percentage of the fanbase flock back to the Leafs...

No way. Leaf fans are Leaf fans and there is a ton of them here. Sens fans dispise the Leafs and that will never change. Those lines are drawn clearly in the sand.
This is Ottawa, if they don't believe you are Cup worthy, they will spend their $ elsewhere. Will still sell out for playoffs (when they do make it), but what city doesn't apart from the joke franchises.

And it was against phoenix.

The home opener didnt sell out because people dont like hte leafs.

I didn't hear teh stats on the Habs game.

These are all valid points, but like I said, if Saturday doesnt sell out (or at least come close) then there really is something going on here.

over 18k for the habs game...
I'm a season tix holder and I never go to Leafs games and only go to habs games because my dad is a habs fan and I bring him; if not, I wouldn't go...
As for the Pheonix game yesterday, I sold my pair of tickets and watched the Jays game with the boys! ;-)

True.Even with the general dislike most fans have of the leafs games, not having a sell out for the opener is surprising

Checked ticketmaster for the next Leaf game in - all but a few single tickets left.
That's Leafs fans to see Mathews and the promising young team.
Not this year, but I think they will begin to rise next year.
