I read an article of heard an interview that Haks planned to switch the line up for game 2 but was impressed with our efforts against the Kings that he stuck with it. Makes you wonder, if we lose game 1 is Lyubimov dressed right now? - arichardson22
Don't know, but I don't see the sense in keeping Lyubimov as the 13th forward long term. |

Such a fine line in the NHL. Defenseman get ripped on, if they play a rush positionally, and contain. It's a judgment call. Step up aggressively and breaking up plays is great, if it works. If the puck gets by you, and there's no support, you're in trouble. Sometimes it's the right play, but the structure breaks down behind the defenseman. Tough situation. - MJL
I know its a fine line but he took himself out of position to engage in the hit. If he stays in position its a 3 on 2 I believe with a guy back checking. I like 3 on 2 over 2 on 1. |

I could see LA trying to get Pavelec from WPG. Probably wouldn't cost as much. - J35Bacher
Didn't the 'Peg just waive Pavelec to the AHL?
It depends on what the Kings are going for here. I suspect they might want someone better.
Acquiring Pavelec would be more of a reclamation project than acquiring someone else's goaltender who is still solidly playing in the NHL. |

I agree that he made the wrong read, and was too aggressive there.

Agreed, and I think he'll be sent down to make room for a 7th dman as soon as Schenn returns.

And I am not saying it was egregious but it was just so Un-Schultz like. |

We'll see. They may wait until Gudas returns, or another injury forces a move. |

watching both games, there is a clear aggressive mentality on the defense. I believe it is how Hakstol always wanted it to be, but the Flyers are finally getting some of the personnel to implement it. |

Yeah.
right now Manning has been playing it well though. If I have to pick a lineup for the defense once Gudas is back I would take Schultz out. |

4th line wing next to Gordon and VDV seems like the perfect place to get Cousins going |

It just doesn't make sense to carry him as one of 2 spares when Schenn returns, the guy needs to play and continue to acclimate himself to the NA game. I'd rather he'd be playing in LHV than sitting in the press box.

Makes no sense at all, I'd much rather see Lyubimov in that spot if Hak is determined to keep VDV in the lineup.

Cousins should be centering the third line. There is a yuuuuge drop off in talent from Cousins to PEB IMHO!!!!!
I've always felt Hexy and Hakstol just prefer big centers. Seems pretty unfair to Cousins when he's easily been the best 3C over the past 2 years. |

Yeah, he's been their best 3C, but he's still not that good. A 3rd quality center is a must before this team becomes a true contender. That being said, I'd like to see Cousins centering Raffl and either Read or Weise when Schenn returns |

I wonder if there would be a situation where they move Schenn back to center, I havent seen it in so long that I am not sure how I would feel about it |

If Read continues to play consistently well and teams gain interest, and with the forward jam between Laughton, Cousins, and Lyubimov when Schenn returns (and Laughton from injury), do you guys hold onto Read for our team's own gain or look to move him as soon as you can with his cap hit? We've bashed Read the past two seasons for not living up to his contract, but if he did this season, where does everyone stand with him? |

Perhaps it's a thought in the back of our management's mind. After all, both Cousins and Laughton have been moved to, or have been given a look at, wing |

Rubtsov is likely their 2/3C of the future. I still think Cousins is pretty good. Maybe he's just an average 3C in the NHL, but the top 6 should be so good that average will be good enough to make the playoffs. Having legit wingers like Raffl and Read/Weise would help make that line solid.
I guess I just like Cousins more than most people. You can certainly upgrade that spot, but I don't think it's something you need to upgrade right away. |

I'm not really a fan of that. I feel like the less responsibility Schenn has, the better he plays. |

I doubt there is a plan in place to upgrade other than let Rubstov develop, certainly a trade would change things but I dont see that on the table right now |

I hope I'm wrong, but I don't see the same thing in Cousins. I think his skating is suspect, and I don't see him being a player that will contribute much on special teams. I think he's okay for the short term, but they need a better player in that spot. More size and speed. |
