Almost cruel to put Provorov back on to get another - on an EN, but it was a show of faith too. Just a tough tough game for Provorov. He really didn't do much wrong with his game. Just awful luck, a stumble, poor coverage by his teammates, a pass in the skates after a heads up play, never getting bailed out. This is a big learning game, but it still didn't feel like he played that poorly. Everything just spiraled or didn't break right.

Honestly, it kind of feels good that he had a game like this so early on. It's how Ivan and, more importantly, the whole team responds that will provide a real insight

Matt Read did some voodoo spell using a lock of Provorov's hair. There's no way he got that lucky in the same game.

I feel so bad for him. Ghost meanwhile was King Sloppy Turnover tonight and got off most times. Just a nightmare game where everything went wrong for him rather than him making poor decisions.

He's the best bottom 6 player, along with Raffl. And people wanted HIM to sit or be sent down so we could use Weise, Gordon, VDV, PEB, Lyubimov, or whoever. It's hilarious that they made it an initiative to improve the bottom 6, and it hasn't been at all. Just using a 3rd line of Raffl-Cousins-Read is better than any of the crap they're doing or want to do. Then Leier/Laughton-Gordon-PEB or something would've been fine. Really had nothing to do with upgrades, just properly utilizing players. They could still do that with Weise (who has looked pretty crap) in on the 4th. Potential is there for a good bottom 6 instead of this dog crap.

First goal is Streit making 2 poor plays: 1, not playing defense leading to 2 on 1 and 2, not even covering the post when he was right there. Second goal he lost an edge, just tough. Third goal Read's fault -- that's his man who snuck in. Fourth goal a good rush idea, just passed into the skates of Coots, leads to odd man other way. Fifth the EN.

PEB is a possession black hole and a scoring black hole, but wow he did good for Team Europe! Let's overwrite 2 years of NHL data for 6 games or w/e for a 31 year old import. Cousins is a 23 year old sophomore p/pg scorer in the AHL and former 100 pt junior player who showed in his 30+ games he can play center in this league. But he is the odd man out because of Hak's love affair with his 4th line from last year. Weise looks bleh so far. Basically Raffl without the 2-way play. VDV needs to get shot out of a cannon. Lyub could be OK, but he wasn't impressive tonight.

Honestly, in a weird turn of events Gordon is the one player who I'm at least mildly ok with. He hasn't been that bad. Just give him better faster wingers and he could be ok as 4C. But we upgraded our bottom 6 by getting Weise, a worse player than Read, to be 3RW, PEB a mediocre 4C to be 3C, and VDV still in. Those are upgrades? It's a joke.
