I read something today about Tanev from 2013 that blew me away:

"Chris Tanev is now over 88 minutes of 4-on-5 icetime this season. Vancouver's goal differential in those 88 minutes? +1."

Agree about the goal song .

There were other Canuck prospects yesterday that scored like the Russian ? Pedan had a monster hit. Things are going well

5-2 and 5-2 loss to Marlies not the best start though..

I think AC/DCs "if you want blood" should be the goal song...

JV should go down to the A if he isn't willing to play a power forward game with hitting and power moves to the front of the net...

I would rather see LA wallow and miss the playoffs then sending Miller right now. It will be interesting to see how this 50-50 with Markstrom plays out and how realistically this team is making the playoffs. If Markstrom does take the job, I can see Miller requesting a trade as he is on a contract year. Miller for Nichuskin and one of their bad goalie contracts for one more year. Everyone wins.

I thought JV played well. The goals will come and the time will increase

I don't see Miller being traded unless it is at TDL and we are out of the picture

Agreed! Kid looks lost and would be better suited to play more then 10min a nite. He still needs to learn and it's better to develop in the AHL.

I listened to the 2nd game for a bit, sounds like they were really struggling.

Their defense is still pretty bad, from what it sounded like Subban, Pedan and Stecher were all train wrecks in their own zone. Biega would help a lot, I'm sure.

I heard Pedan was the best (not saying much). I don't think Stetcher is ready despite his great preseason. I wish Benning had brought in a large veteran dman. Billins, Subban and Stetcher are all pretty small.

And there has been zero development from last yr. I like JV and I am hoping he continues to develop, but he'll get better by getting more then 10min a game.

And only 20 & no need to panic. If he goes to the A fine as long as we r playing a solid game. Long season ahead & much will happen. The TDL ought to be very interesting for us. Miller can stay or be moved much later all good.

EG is a vet & big & Tree sits in the wings. I think balanced scoring & the PP is where we need to keep imoroving upon.

Yup, and the "vets" negrin and shields aren't very good either. Size is one thing but learning how to play at that level is very difficult.

I heard a suggestion at one point to resign Bartkowski to a two way deal to help the kids in the farm and at least they would have some experience to call up if things get desperate. Not sure I want Bart back but perhaps a guy like Mike Weber they could add.

You must be a keen talent evaluator to make that determination after 20 minutes of combined ice time You may in fact be right, but he should get 20 games before determining he needs a demotion.

I would send Tree down. If he goes to Russia big deal , he is not learning anything sitting in the press box. That would give us 4 mil cap space so we could take Fowler off the Ducks hand so they can sign Lindholm

I agree, they are really missing Biega. We all know Negrin is on this team because of his daddy

So why did Matthews get the second star this week over Marchand or Stastny?

This is the line of thinking JB needs, take advantage of these cap teams. Unfortunately I dont think the Canucks have the assets to make that kind of deal, nor do I think he will do much leading up to expansion draft to mess with his protection ratio. Adding Fowler means 4 D to protect, leaving more forwards unprotected

I know. I noticed after only one game what a total disaster he was. Send him down, he's useless.
