MacKinnon was excited about out shooting opponents 2 games in a row, so maybe the Avs own stat guys had them with more shots vs the arena stats? who knows

Your Pens are actually statistically better without your captain.

How about the lopsided face off percentage though.... Yikes Avs, we can do better..

Hard fought game both ways. Don't think they will get much more difficult than that this season.

I love Varly and Lord knows, he has saved our bacon more times than I can count through a really bad defensive stretch of hockey the last few years.

But there is just something about Picks. Does anybody else feel like he just "fits in" with this group of guys perfectly?

And that is one thing I like about Bednar compared to Roy. I think Bednar sees that possibility of a killer combo between Varly and Picks.

With the compressed schedule this year, teams are going to be relying more on their backups to take up the slack so they don't work the starters to death.

I'd love to see one of those perfect "1A/1B" this year between Varly and Picks where Bednar can depend on both equally. That will end up being a huge advantage down the stretch.

also the analytics guys could of told the team that they out shot them 5v5...nerds

That game got really clunked up with all those penalties, way too many 4v4 and 3v5.
Just let the teams skate

Picks is good, but lets not over play him so he steals the net and makes a hard call in the expansion draft. But play him enough that he gives Varly a break and make sure he doesn't go down with his annual groin injury.

I would like to see 25 starts for Picks

Good call giving the start to Picks last night so Varly can have a go at his former team. First back to back nights of the season against top teams is a great test early on. Need these points now!
