Meh, even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while.
So we now know Colborne's goal total for the season.

246 goal pace? Somewhere close to that I assume

I watched both games against Edm. Wideman was paired with Giordano in game 1 & played a great game, in game 2 he played with Engelland & barely played. I never said that he played better because of his plus minus. You made that interpretation on your own, I even stressed it's not a perfect stat but it does provide a relationship with his teammates game to game for even strength play. Let Giordano or Brodie have to carry Engelland & see how they fair. Wideman didn't cost Calgary either of those games. Others did.

I didn't watch the game against the Canucks as I refuse to watch the Canucks play unless absolutely necessary.

Wideman certainly isn't the problem. With him out of the line up they missed his ability to help generate some offense. Had Eriksson not scored on his own net they wouldn't have gotten a single goal in that game.

I'm not saying Wideman is invaluable. He's quite 1 dimensional but sitting him when he's played better than Hamilton & had no where near the same opportunity makes little sense to me. The Golden child rule is alive & well.

But all good. Karma played out as it should.

I watched all 3 games and it seemed to me that they came out strong in all 3 games but lose that step part way through the 1st period. Maybe its other teams making adjustments to their game that make it seem like they slow down. Not Sure.

What I really don't like seeing is the Flames looking more like the "Nail" instead of looking like the "Hammer" in all 3 games so far. Its not good when Gaudreau is the Flames most fierce forechecker I miss Ferland and Bouma laying the smack down on the other teams.

I too think that Chaisson has looked real good so far. Maybe putting him up on the 2nd or at least the 3rd line might be a good idea.

Tom McCullem Signed.

Looks like we don't have to worry about loosing Gilles in the expansion draft anymore.

Wideman has been awful. Dougie hasn't had a great start, but Wides has been a massive liability. Engs doesn't need carrying, he's been fine.

You're entitled to your opinion, but I must say I completely disagree with everything you said. lol

Well you certainly have a good grasp of how good/bad this Flames team is, and is going to be based on watching 2 out of 3 games....

I don't disagree on the Wideman-Gio pairing. I think they've had descent chemistry for a couple of years now. If...If GG wants to try a Brodie-Hamilton pairing I wouldn't mind seeing Gio-Wideman as the 2nd pair. The last pair I would like to see is Wideman with Kulak. Minutes would be limited but that is just fine with the other 4 we would have.

Engelland has looked pretty good so far in the 3rd pair but if a physical game is not expected, GG should try the Wideman-Kulak 3r pair, imo. Grossmann should not play again until an injury happens and only if we can't get in a reinforcement from Stockton in time. He's........terrible.

I heard he has already been assigned to Stockton. Not sure what that means for Rittich.

I only watched portions of both games against Edm & I know plus minus isn't a great stat but in game 1 Wideman came of plus 1, game 2 even, barely played. Giordano -1, -1 & Wideman scored a PPG in game 1. In game 2 he had to play with Engelland.

Giordano -3, Brodie -3, Hamilton -2, Wideman plus 1.

Sitting Wideman is a mistake. Yes he's not as proficient of defense as offense but he deserves to play.

I have Calgary to be the 2nd worst team in the West behind Vancouver. Which pains me being a season ticket holder for years. They are fun to watch & for the life of me I don't understand how a team with this group of forwards & 1 of the best top 4 D in the NHL can give up this many goals but they do. weird little breakdowns & missed coverage assignments usually by the forwards.

I know people like to blame the goalies but far bigger issues in play in this regard than just the goalies. As we are about to see with Elliott this season.

Plus minus honestly is one of the least important stats in the NHL which your basing your whole point over and it's a good thing your job is to predict standings because you'd be living in a box on the streets

They are looking tight though. Roy truly set them back more than I thought. Too late for me to call them a sleeper pick, replacing the Preds lovefest?
