I'd like to see a little more consistency from Lehner, but overall team isn't bad.

I was going to rip his 3.33 gaa and .890 save % but

ben biship 3.40 gaa and .889 save %

I like their chances today

Interesting starter choice for the Indians, though. Seems Francona is intent on riding that bullpen today.

Seems to me like there's been a lot more high scoring games lately. Not sure why exactly, but I kinda like it.

Makes the goaltender stats look pretty crappy though.

You are correct. They didn't start them this year.

One of the biggest opponent in blocking it was Ryan Miller.

It wasn't even about stopping it from what i've read, its like the NHL just, forgot about it. They interviewed like 5 goalies at a camp in August and said they haven't been told anything about it or to order pads or anything. LOL such a huge deal at the end of last year and then just goes away. Kind of weird.

I can see why. Last time they made changes to the blocker he ended up with a broken thumb that he wouldn't have gotten if the pads had been left alone.

Me too, he had all day to move the puck. Should've slid it behind the net to O'Reilly. They would've ended up with a break the other way.

Ten of those happen every game, but most of them don't knock the puck carrier down like that.

The hit was questionable, but you need to see a clip that includes a few seconds before. O'Reilly was undefended on the other side of the net. Sam had all the time in the world to slide the puck over to him and didn't. I think Sam was waiting for the Flames to concede the puck and drop back, but they stayed on the attack. The whole thing could've and should've been avoided.

They've already said that. Might be time for them to try and find some new material.

Besides, Cordell must have missed that Gionta had a really good night the other day against Edmonton. He may not be an offensive juggernaut, but he's pulling his weight just fine. That line has been a bear to play against going back to last year.

Agreed. What I'd really like to see this year, is a bit more consistency from one game to the next. Last night seemed much closer to the way they played in Edmonton than the Montreal game.

Might not get to catch too much of the Vancouver game. These 10 pm games are a crap shoot for me. Sometimes I manage to stay awake. But it seems most of the time I fall asleep during one of the intermissions.

I'll be at the game in Vancouver. I'll send an in-person update from the game or when i get back to my hotel. I think they'll take 2 in Vancouver. The Canucks are not a very good team although they have started off the year OK.

Its a prediction based on underlying numbers, not a guarantee and its not an unreasonable assumption. It's not secret the blueline as a whole is bad. Eichel going down for a while is bad. And there are question marks in net and with some players up front. Now those could go right which would put us out of the conversation but its not something you can just overlook.

This team is more talented at the top than it was a year ago, but the overall product still bleeds possession time and high danger scoring chances against. Without knowing who the team is, if an unbiased person saw that in a chart they would likely make the same guess that said team would finish dead last.

I refuse to rip any goalie who has to put up with this defence.
