Crazy world we live in. We now review offsides several minutes after they occurred but don't review a whistle on a goal that just went in. And people are constantly talking politics in a hockey thread.

Post of the day....yesterday.

edit: And today, also.

I think he's better at rebound control than most goalies. Not that he doesn't give them up, but he doesn't give them up 5 feet in front of the net. I'm totally fine with kicking pucks into the corner, that's what they're taught to do.
- Wetbandit1

I like Lehner and really want him to succeed but his rebound "control" makes my eyebrows raise dozens of times each game.

Great games - and notably so - from ROR, Kuli, Grigs, and Risto. Also thought Ennis Okposo and Foligno put in a solid game. Reinhart's play in OT, I agree w Brad May, was more on Reinhart than the defender - he just needs to keep on bulking up.

I didn't like Lehner's game, and McCabe and Bogo had a tough night.

Pretty solid road game in a dump they never win in. Transition game seems to be miles ahead of last year. Nice support from forwards.

D can still give me heartburn 3-4 times a game but my biggest concern is Lehner. He just doesn't look in control and is serving up beach balls all game. Hopefully he's just got to find his rythym.

My random thoughts from last night:

Buffalo is going to have the best top 6 they have had in a long time once Kane and Eichel get back.

Radulov scored an amazing goal for MTL last night.

That Monahan no call was worse than the No call on Julio Jones.

3 on 3 and the Sabres don't mix.

The defense needs to get better. Murray needs to work the phones.

Lehner has good/bad swings much like teenagers do with attitude.

Me too, he had all day to move the puck. Should've slid it behind the net to O'Reilly. They would've ended up with a break the other way.

Ennis is useless but he's not movable now either, we might be stuck with him and his bad contract.

Did anything else ever come out about his injury from last year?

I noticed he has a smokey color to his visor. I wonder if that has anything to do with light sensitivity because of concussions

He had a back issue as well when he got blasted into the boards before he went out again.

We have been told, mysteriously and without any detail, there's "more to the story."

It could be that a defenseman from the LAKings was actually the one who was in the bathroom that night.

You have to get more shots on a goaltender like Johnson than they did last night.

Their effort was better last night than it was against Montreal, but they didn't play as well as they had in Edmonton. I'll take the loser point though. Every point helps. Just would have been nice to get the extra point from the W.

A) The Sabres failed to capitalize on chances presented - ie 5 on 3 and missed tap in gaping net.

B). Lehner gave up a softy and didn't look great on the OT goal.

I would say the Sabres had every opportunity to win that game, but lost it. It wasn't for lack of effort, or opportunity. It was for lack of execution.

I got an idea what they're looking at.... You know what they're looking at?... I mean — is this guy something, or is he something?... This crew is good!... You wanna know what they're looking at?

1 point we got, Eichel and Kane out, so far the effort has been good. I'll take it.

I won't complain when they win

I can't complain when they get a point on the road

having said that, they left 1 on the table

Agreed. What I'd really like to see this year, is a bit more consistency from one game to the next. Last night seemed much closer to the way they played in Edmonton than the Montreal game.

Might not get to catch too much of the Vancouver game. These 10 pm games are a crap shoot for me. Sometimes I manage to stay awake. But it seems most of the time I fall asleep during one of the intermissions.

They've already gotten 3 out of what will be a possible 6 points on a west coast roadie. Ideally, you come home with at least that, so they've gotten off to a decent start. Puts less pressure on them going into this Vancouver game, IMO.

Good to see Girgs get on the scoresheet last night. I didn't catch the whole game, but he seemed to be playing with a bit more sandpaper in his game last night.

I'd like to see a little more consistency from Lehner, but overall team isn't bad.

The team is going to need to continue to get secondary scoring from guys like Foligno, Ennis, Girgensons etc to continue to get points in Eichels absence. ROR won't keep up this torrid pace, and I don't expect Risto to have 100 points this year
