This game is going to blow up, Princess Phaneuf just speared Glendening after Green scored his 3rd.

Edit: Vanek has 2A tonight.

clay is good, need to get him more involved
I think it's time to turn the page on goodwin and let powell be the speed threat, taller and probably more durable

more dumps to the backs and clay will free up the wr's IMO
our wr's are not good, but if woods gets 8 targets a game our group is no worse than the chiefs

- homiedclown

The Bills as an organization are totally incapable of using a TE correctly. Dating back to Pete Metzelars. And even then he didn't get used enough.

We need more Nick O'Leary though too. He's got some soft hands. It is really jarring seeing him play without gloves though.

Goodwin is a total bust.

Woods all of a sudden "does all the little things". I think he's a good complimentary piece, but nothing more.

Tyrod had his best game. I think something he does that he gets absolutely no credit for is his pump fake. It's a thing of beauty. Not all QB's can do that, and some try to disastrous results. And he does it extremely well. Only one really errant "easy" throw and O'Leary hauled it in. Broke about 20 tackles when a 49er was able to lay a hand on him. McCoy ran through guys like they were that practice contraption where it has all the "arms" that stick out and you run through it with the ball.

Few Bills points.

- Tyrod's pocket presence is remarkable. His ability to side step an any other QB crushing sack is mesmerizing.

- Bills are in need of a big bodied wr to compliment Sammy. Justin Hunter has the rest of the year to get his act together. 2 games, I think 2 receptions and 2 tds. What a perfect pass from Tyrod on Hunter's td yesterday. Tyrod's ability to keep a play alive got him the td last week too. If Hunter can't be consistent and doesn't put in the work, then I think they target a big WR in free agency. Can you say Alshon Jeffrey? How the Bears don't throw to him every play is mind blowing. I wonder if the Bills could get Jeffrey now?

- Is Zac Brown a free agent again next year? Hopefully not, but he did say he wanted to play with Preston Brown for years.

Bills are awesome right now, hopefully they're 5-2 and playing the Pats for division lead. Would be the biggest game in drought history.

That is true. You'd hope anyway. The thing that gives me pause with Lindholm, well 2 things, first is he plays on a defense first team and puts up great numbers, what happens when he's on the Sabres and gets hung out to dry at least 15 times a night? How does he look then? Probably still pretty good, but not worth the package that's being thrown around. And second is the money. I had a super long post on that last night that I won't re-post, but you simply can't spend that much money on defense. The Leafs tried it years ago when they went crazy and signed Komisarek and all those guys and had a ton of money tied up in their defense. And where did that get them? I know, I know, it's the Leafs, but the center holds.

How much do u think finding a legit partner for Risto is gonna cost?
Your not spending $$$ on defense makes zero sense to me
Also...
Franson + Gorges = what we'd pay Lindholm

I guess I'm not understanding what u mean here

Look at other good teams around the league and tell me how much they spend on defense. Most of them already spend less than the Sabres for much better overall players. The Sabres already lack scoring, and everyone wants to spend more money on defense. I love Lindholm as a player, and I'd love to have him on this team, but aside from moving Bogo for him it's a bad move to add him to the team because you'll be seriously lacking upfront with no latitude to fix it. I'm not talking about this year, I'm talking about into the future, just 2 years. The Sabres don't need to add every big name FA to the team. Has nobody learned from the Rangers and Leafs? That poop doesn't work. The Sabres are currently spending $4.5M more than the Pens on defense. Whose defense would you take?

And how are you planning on getting rid of Franson and Gorges? I was talking about this with 365 earlier. You have to operate under the assumption that no one can be moved, if you start making moves thinking you'll be able to move guys later then you've already (frank)ed up.

Edit: Show me a team in this league that wouldn't love to just move a certain guy or guys. Every team has guys they want to move but can't because teams aren't in the business of helping other teams out.

But Franson and Gorges both have 1 and 2 years left. Kulikov comes off this year as well. The only long terms are Bogo (unfortunately), Risto and McCabe.

Why exactly do we have to operate like we can't trade Franson or Gorges?
Many players with much worse deals have been moved
Even if u have to mildly sweeten the pot...
I have no doubt that those guys can be moved

U act like Gorges & Franson suck
They do not
They're decent depth defenseman
And like I said...
if u really have to sweeten the pot, then do it

Small price to pay to get a true top pair defenseman

Thank you. This is why I keep saying we don't have the cap for lindholm. We can't just magically move people, if they are "dead weight" here, they aren't really a movable asset.

Your opinion of "dead weight" doesn't necessarily make someone unmovable
And like I've said, and others have said...
MANY worse deals than Gorges & Franson have been moved

Nothing magical about it
