LOL is there some blog where you can troll hockey players girlfriend's or something?

They're young, famous, fit and millionaire's – of course they all have hot girlfriends.

- Pixote Andolini

From what I've read, Lupul and Richards didn't believe in "girlfriends." It was the hot girl(s) they met at that weekend's party that they'll see again.

seriously tho, funny enough when I was a kid I was in love with goalies. Bernie, Tony Esposito, etc. I was a street hockey goalie. then I got some common sense and played forward in roller hockey and center in ice hockey

Sure you can. If you're selling tickets on StubHub, a game vs Pittsburgh will fetch more than tickets vs the Rangers. There's two hated rivals, but the Pens also have the allure of Crosby, Malkin or even Letang. The Rangers biggest star is the goalie.

Look deeper, a seat in section 221 vs Buffalo can be had for $19 right now on StubHub. The same seat in January vs Toronto is currently $28. Two rebuilding teams, not much of a recent rivalry with either. But Auston Matthews just had a 4 goal NHL debut & Jack Eichel is coming off a good not great rookie year.

1. you made (or someone else did I dont remember) the connection to a starting pitcher and baseball. That is because you get to watch one guy. It is the individual aspect of baseball that causes that. If teams used all 5 starters in a rotation in the same game, that wouldn't happen. There is an expectation that when an opposing ace comes to play (and usually matched up against your team's ace) that you will see a better game

2. Also, I would be willing to bet that the Leafs, who have some of the highest ticket prices in the league and a large fan base, see higher ticket prices all over the place. What were the prices like last year? Prices are higher for Flyers games in other arenas because of the Flyers, not because of Konecny

At the same time, I would guess that ticket prices in Toronto for games against Edmonton are high due to McDavid, not due to the Oilers' roster overall.

Edit: I don't think hockey needs any advertising in Toronto.

the Flyers would be one injury away from a Stolarz/Lyon tandem if Mason is traded and Neuvirth is seriously hurt. If they weren't a playoff contender i would say go for it if the return is good but I am leery about doing that now.

Fyi Larry Brooks twitter picture is of Dan Boyle...thats all you need to know about the guy... Its funny, In hockey I don't dislike reporters of other teams, even of teams I hate ( I actually really like Brian Metzer, I get all my pens info from him) but I really dislike Brooks, he just rubs me the wrong way..

I do kind of agree with him that Mason seems to be better when he knows hes the guy to go to, or at least when he has to be relied upon

It really depends what they think of Stolarz. I don't put that much stock in not playing him last year when Neuvy was hurt. I hope the evaluation process is a year to year basis.

The kings are definitely in win now mode.

Yes, there is a more individual aspect to baseball. Still a player like Auston Matthews or Connor McDavid definitely can and do push ticket sales. They create a buzz and get people more interested in going to see them live. There's an expectation that when a McDavid or Matthews is in the game, they will do something memorable, even with the more team first aspect of the sport.

Certainly, teams with a lot of history or with a far flung fanbase will draw well on the road. Montreal was the one of the highest drawing road teams in the NHL last year despite a non playoff year and missing Price and Subban for big chunks of the season. Same goes for the Blackhawks, Flyers, Leafs, Penguins and other teams that always seem to have fans show out at road games.

However, that doesn't mean that a star player won't bring fans in by his mere presence. To get back to the Edmonton/McDavid factor, in 2014-15 the Oilers were 27th in the NHL in road attendance. In 2015-16, they had climbed to 10th. And that was with McDavid missing 21 road games with injury. That's a pretty significant swing.

I am not disagreeing. Star players can and will attract people to games. I am just simply saying that the ace/baseball comparison is not the same thing.

I didn't realize I fell so far behind at lunch though so I wasnt trying to stir the pot agian
