It's just one game, but is there anything impressive about that blue line at all? Jake McCabe and Ristolainen look like the only mainstays back there, the other 4 (I have never been a Kulikov fan, watched a ton of him) should be replaced, or bumped down a pair.

Baptiste has the higher ceiling, the scoring touch bailey will never have. Bailey probably more likely to stick in the nhl though. Calling baptiste right now probably the best move since they need some offense. can stick him on the wing on the 2nd pp.

nylander can play either wing, and go up as high as top line

baptiste IMO is the safer play

I doubt he trumps foligno, moulson or ennis for lw pp time though

oh versus nylander you meant, yea i would agree. I agree on nylander but id rather have him spend the entire year in Roch. Slide his ELC and call him up when he just looks like he belongs permanently on the top 6.

I would agree 100 percent if we didn't lose eichel and kane within 40 hours

I fear we will be in a deep dark hole when they return w/o a top 6 player added

I don't think his contract can slide if he's in the AHL. It would still count as a year playing pro hockey

We will be, this year. These things happen, but it shouldnt alter the plan for a young players who you expect to be a key part of the teams future.

As long as he plays less than 10 nhl games it slides. for up to 2 years in fact.

Is this for every player or just him because of his weird shl/ohl loan status? I could have sworn a year in the AHL counts as a pro year against the slide.

I believe its unique to players who carry his eligibility status but im not 100% sure.

Edit: I thought age played a factor here too

I suppose that makes sense. I'd let him get some games in the AHL and call him up for 9 games towards the end of the year.

Your man crush on Draisatl is real.

He had a massive hot stretch last year, and then he cooled off big time.

He too needs to show more consistency.

- kingcong39

So does Ristolainen, but that doesn't stop people from projecting him to be great or having a "man crush"

I didn't get that from scouting reports

I find it hard to believe he is faster than nylander

He caught Nylander from behind during a breakaway in the prospects game I went to

Defense: The blueline is bad, it's our biggest weakness by a mile. People talk about the forwards too much on here, it's irrelevant. Franson does nothing, literally nothing. When he shoots the puck he misses the net or hits a player. Bogosian takes 50+ games to warm up. Gorges is all heart but his legs are starting to go and he loses his man all the time. Nelson needs more seasoning. McCabe is our best puck mover by a mile.

I think Kulikov is going to look like a God send compared to these dusters we have in the line-up just because he can skate . Even if he's a middling #3 or #4, the aforementioned players are pretty much sixes. We're missing 2 quite talented defensemen who can move the puck. I've watched both Oilers games and while their defense is shoddy in their own zone they can at least all skate (Sekera Russel Klef Larsson).

whichever played better last night, I thought was going to get the call up

nylander, carrier and bailey have a higher ceiling

baptiste has a higher floor in 2-1 games

it seems this team does the opposite of what I would do, every time

- homiedclown

The best thing for Nylander & Bailey is to spend time in the AHL to develop
What's best for them long term is what's ultimately best for us
Can't think so short sighted

I cant believe this has dragged out as long as it has. I would've given him 7x7 without hesitation.

On an offer sheet? That's 4 first rounders...Anaheim would match just about anything I would think

no biggie

I have yet to have a drink today so I am a little cranky as well

I need to go buy a grill before the jays game, then I will be the liquor
